What do you all think? Its a little more laid back with less effects than the '99 tour was. I personally like it.

naw, I like tim playing a bigger role in the shows. he's just a great guitar player, you can't really argue with that. but from what i've heard (only a small part of the 3-19 show due to laziness) he isn't too low-key.

hes way more low key on this tour, defintaly. You can see that in his solo songs too, the fact that theyre not interlaced with an OTT improv in the middle (not saying i dont like that, just saying theyre absent). This can also be atributed to the fact that his Wah pedal is not there, something that added a different dynamic to the '99 tour. Someone on another board said it pretty well, it couldve been you Jakey, that he was traveling mostly with TR3 or electricly with DMB at the time and that affected the way he approached his solos, which comparitive to all the other tours were way more flashy. This tour harks back to '93 and '94 when he was very compimentary of daves music, there moreso to round out daves sound than to sort of swap spotlights back and forth.

For the most part, I agree with you Erich but I was listening to a T&D show from 94 and Tim seemed to have presence in that show than he did in Boone.

I think a little bit of both would be my favorite. I loved when Tim would do a solo for a Dave song this tour and they'd literally put the spotlight on him and turn dave's lighting down. I love the way Tim backs Dave up with smaller fills/strumming, but I also love when Tim just tears into a blistering solo.

Yeah, I'll second Erich on this one. Having seen two shows this tour my feeling is that T&D definitley have a more cohesive sound overall...the songs are really tight and even if they started out a little rough they've gotten tighter in the past week. I think I mentioned something about the set at Oakdale earlier, basically that all the pre-Lillywhite/Busted Stuff songs harkened back to the earliest T&D shows...PFWYG, Satellite, Recently, IBYU, Nancies, OSW, etc...and yeah, in all those shows TIM's playing is more complimentary than flashy...don't forget, it's TIM so you know shit is gonna change...maybe he wanted chill out for a couple weeks after playing real heavy for a few months.

It'd be great to meet someone at a show off of the board. Hopefully he does come west and plays at 18+ shows. I'm not 21 yet...

I'll cross my fingers and pray for a miracle. Like Tim showing up at my college and playing! Vic Wooten stopped by, and was amazing.

Tim doesn't use a wah pedal he uses a Volume Pedal and yes it was there the entire tour. I saw it at Winston-Salem and Boone. He didn't start using it alot until after the W-S show.

Lucky bastard! God i hope i can see that man again, he's so inspirational. I wish tim would form a revised TR3 group with Wooten and Carter.

the closest thing to that is vital tech tones, with scott henderson, victor wooten, and steve smith. If anyone has not heard Vital Tech Tones, check it out, one of the best groups ive EVER heard!

Vic's brother, Reggie "The Teacher" is an outstanding guitarist on his own.

But that Super TR3 would rock!

I went to the CMU show in Mt PLeasant, MI and let me tell you what a show it was but you all are right TIM didnt use alot of what i saw on acoustic on CHAOS VIEW nor from other dave and TIM stuff. Even Kundalini bonfire wasnt the same with enthusiasm. But never the less he still amde everything sound great and was absolutley mind blowing
