How could I stay away from all of you? Thought I could, I was wrong!Especially since it is Thanksgiving time and I am sooo thankful for all of you!
Jason and Patrick....Thanks for the e-mails....Please, if I venture on to the other side of the boards would you promise to just smack me? I am going to try to stay on the fun side.
Teri...couldn't leave you with all these guys and so few women, and I would just miss you too much. Actually I thought of you the other day because I met a guy at the Peter Gabriel concert and we've been talking on line ever since and he just ran the Philly marathon..came in 88 out of over 7,000!!!!
I don't usually get that ticked off but I have been to so many concerts lately and have really been on a musical high so I guess I couldn't take the stupid negativity that was going on.
I am dealing with enough shit at work right now. I am considered part-time, 15 mins short of full time so they don't have to give benefits. A position opened up for which I should be next in line. There are about 50 others who applied for it as well. The rumors are flying. Every corner I go around at work a group of co-workers are huddled whispering. They see me and put on their fake smiles. I had already decided to look for another job but then this came up so if I get it (and I really think I will) great, if not I go back to my original plan and I'll get out altogether, although I have to say, my feelings would be extremely hurt!
Anyway...I'm back!!! Peace, Pam |

Hey Pam, I had read the post that got you so upset and I was trying to figure out what I could say to make you stay. Glad it didn't come to that. Take that stuff with a grain of salt. Everyone has there opinions and luckily we are adult enuf around here to let them say their piece even when we don't agree. I know it turned into petty bickering and name calling but sometimes that happens. I did want to comment on the post in question, but feared bringing it back to the top. I was afraid it might send you over the edge. HEHE I read all 6 pages of the link provided and found his review to be top notch, even though he did not like the show. Alot of the post comments were very good and I think if you actually read it all and read inbetween the name calling and such there is alot of good info about TR in those comments. Overall I was not unhappy with the thread, although the name calling gets a little tedious. As I have said many TIMes before, everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if I do not agree, and I can also garner positive thoughts from a negative review. Luckily he stated very eloquently the reasons he did not like the show and I could read between the lines and see that his reasons for not liking it were exactly the things that would draw me to it. Sometimes a negative review tells me more than a positive one. Keep and open mind and it is amazing what you can discover. Some of his comments were off the mark, like the ones about it lacking creativity, but again those are personal opinions and I still would reserve judgement on something like that for myself. I recieved a wonderful review of the show in C-ville from Mike Sokolowski. He is in a position to know much more about TR's creativity than the casual listener. I will include some his comments here:
Quotes from Mike Sokolowski after seeing the C-ville show of ChaosView:
Had a FANTASTIC time last night. I had to leave just prior to end of set because I had been there two hours and was worried about leaving Mary alone any longer. The video/visual stuff was beautiful, well synched, and really powerful. Really top notch -- elegant, no bullshit. Kudos to whoever is working on it.
The virtual rhythm section kicks f*$kin' ass, man!Substituting? Hell it was better than live! It's really inspired me to view the drum machine stuff I'm working with right now not so much as demo scratch tracks, but as keepers. Of course, TR is one badass drum programmer -- sheesh.! That shit was perfect. And great sound quality, too.
As I was telling Tim Roux, the really old TR3 tunes were slamming me with many memories of crazed energy, psychedelic weirdness, coke parties, amazing swirling women dripping sex in a Dionysian Dance Frenzy. What a time that was. Like walking into Calhoun's in Harrisonburg circa '84 high on shrooms and immediately enveloped by the haunting strains of "Uncover the Reason." The audience energy back then really helped to put the music way over the top. (I heard the Steve Kimock Band a few months ago, and that was the closest thing I've ever experienced to those early TR3 shows, only without the killer songwriting and musical twists and turns. But that guy can seriously play guitar and his drummer, Rodney Holmes, is just ridiculous.)
Cut to 2002 where the audience is weighed more to young dudes --many of whom weren't even alive when some of those tunes were being wailed upon by Ron Pruitt and Jos amid candles and Tim in robes, etc -- standing quietly around, very few people dancing. So different -- really interesting how it has changed over time.
All that said, I'm still so impressed by the current direction. It really is the logical, mature evolution of this stuff. I can see more clearly what your vision for the rhythm section always was. That shit last night was SO tight, articulate, and sounding so good, I had a permanent smile going. Very proud of you, Tim. I was really inspired. Thank you.
So you see, 2 visions of the same show. One sees the creativity, the other sees it as nothing new. It is all in your personal perspective. I hold no grudge or animosity to anyone who doesn't like the show. I just hope we find alot more people who do. Not everyone is going to like everything. To each his own.
Glad you are back and hope you stick around for a good long TIMe.

Hey Fluffy, thanks. I wasn't mad with the comment made by the guy from Nancies. I even stated the same thing you did that I didn't think it was that bad. I got ticked with the talk of if MSG was blown up with DMB fans etc Just rubbish and I really wasn't in the mood for it. I don't joke about death. Between watching a neighbor die (sat with the wife holding her hand as her husbands life slipped away)....and the fact that I almost lost my brother-in-law in the 9-11 attack....well just couldn't joke about those things. Also I have been going on very little sleep and I don't handle things as well as I normally would. I don't know? But I guess I'm forgiven...eh?
As for Mikes comments, he told me the same thing.
Anyway thanks again! |

Strangely, death seems to be all around us these days. I just found out last nite that one of the new door guys at the club quit while we were on tour. Apparently, 2 weeks later he hung himself at his sisters house. We certainly did not see that coming. He didn't even seem depressed. Death is definitely not a joking matter these days. Glad your back and hope you stay around for a good long while. |

id like to comment on two things...
firstly, im glad you arent leaving us here. Youre a good person Pam, and all of us, especialy me, think so.
secondly... I apologize if my comments offended, though id like to bring a few things up. Im not a stranger to death myself. Despite not being at or having someone in the WTC on that day, I watched them fall. And last week, after watching himself starve to death in a hospice to end his own suffering, a man who i looked up to greatly and new for many years passed away from intestinal cancer. Death in many respects is not a joking matter, but i also approach many things differently from others. Im the type ot laugh at a funeral, thinking more of the things that bring me happiness than the things that would bring me down. And when I make comments like the MSG one, it was something i had said in response to something somewhere else. Half because my frustration tolerance is much lower than average and i make up for that by saying things that convay that level of frustration to others, and half because what i was responding to elsewhere seemed the typical fear people tend to have of immenent death which i feel shouldnt be an issue in someones life. you go when you go.
I curb my tongue around here because i respect the fans on this board infinatly more than any other place ive posted, but i do admit to my fault of going off a lot on the dmb boards due to my extraordinarily low frustration tolerance to many of the blatently assinign comments made there. Its something that as of late has toned down considerably, because for the most part i do realize how petty my verbal indulgences have been. So Pam, i do apologize for being part of the reason you were set off the other day, but I hope you realize too that my maturity level has yet to platau in an area where i can finaly not succumb to my frustrations. Until then, I'll still curb my tongue in these parts just due to my respect for the lot of you. |

I am sure everyone appreciates your comments Erich, but let me remind you never feel like you can't say what is on your mind. Free speech is one of the only Freedoms we really have left. Speak your mind. Just know that all of your comments may not be well recieved and try to think thru what you say before you say it. I am sure you didn't mean the comments everyone had a problem with. As I read it I assumed it was comment just made out of frustration. I may know you a little better than everyone else here and when I read that I laughed and thought to myself, "I can identify with Erich's frustration." I have been there many TIMes, but as a representative of TR, I have to choose my words very carefully so noone goes around quoting me in a bad light. I can certainly understand your frustration, just know that comments like that only antagonize the situation, not help it. Try to be the peacemaker. Remember your thoughts, feelings, and opinions are just as valid as anyone elses. Just choose your words more carefully. I know you can, I read the poem you wrote a while ago and it was beautiful. I think anyone who read that poem had to know that the comment you made had to come out of frustration and not a real ill will for anyone or really wishing evil upon anyone. I think we all know you are alot more sensitive than that and they just pushed the wrong buttons on the wrong day. Glad you are here and keep speaking your mind openly and freely, just watch what you say. HEHE |

Pam, glad you decided to stick around. Women are a minority on this board. I'm not sure why and I don't care because I'd much rather be with a group that is predominantly male HEEHEE, but it is nice to have balance and cool women here.

All right.......here goes. Homer is at Moe's , when Moe tells Homer about how poorly his business has been doing lately. So Homer narrates a story of how he created his own drink. One day, Patty and Selma brought slides of their trip to Checkoslovakia. Homer, feeling unbelievably bored got up to get a beer to kill the pain. After being told that there were none left, he decided to make his own drink by mixing in alcohol from all the liquoir bottles in the house. However, in his haste he grabbed a bottle of children's cough syrup (Krusty brand name, of course). After mixing it all, he took a sip and said that it passed the first test "I didn't go blind". So he took it and sat back down. Selma's butt from her cigarette then fell into his drink, igniting it. He blew it out and said "I don't know the scientific explanation, but fire made it good". He calls it a Flaming Homer. So he makes one for Moe......tastes it before lighting it and says "It's not without its charm". Then tasting it after igniting it, he said "Wow! It's like there's a party in my mouth, and everyone's invited!" So....to make a long story short (too late) Moe steals the receipe and calls it the Flaming Moe. The drink makes his dump the most popular place in town (he gets Aerosmith to play) until Homer tells everone that the secret ingredient is the cough syrup. Moe's goes back to the way it was and Homer and Moe become friends again. |

I know how work can get you down. Just when things were going good at work they all came crashing down. The boss is constantly getting pissed at me for stuff that every employee is guilty of yet I'm the only one that hears about it. Hopefully something better will come along soon. |

Awe SS I feel so bad for you! Where do you work? I just got that promotion....well I think I got it, my boss said I did but I haven't heard from human resources yet about my benefit package or exactly when I am supposed to start the new hours. I will go and find out tomorrow, I was just hoping someone would notify me first.
I can sympathize with you as far as the picking on you by your boss goes. One of the women I used to work with got picked on all the TIMe. Just like you said, I could do the same thing she would do and no one would say anything, the same with a lot of others, but let this one woman do it and the boss was on her case. She finally moved to another school.
