Alright if you could create your own superband, pulling musicians from all over, even those whove passed away, who would you get and how would you arrange them? go nuts man, have three guitar players if you want, as long as itd sound good. if you want a percussionists or a dj in your band, add one its your sound. i just didnt want people to think they had to choose one guitar player, a drummer, and a bassplayer. go crazy.

Ian Anderson - Flute / Vocal
Anneke van Giersbergen - Vocals
David Gilmour - Guitar
Danny Carry - Drums
Tori Amos - Piano / Vocal
Geezer Butler - Bass
James Hetfield - Guitar
Robert Smith - Guitar / Songwriting / Vocals

it would sound pretty rough, but youd get a crunchy guitar and bass leveled with smooth lead, piano, and flute, a perfect melody and song writen by Robert, topped with a battery from Cary like no other. the vocals would mostly be mellow, and i left James' vox out cause of it. there are other superbans id creat too, that would include Les Claypool, Peter Steele, Tim, and others, but this is a nice one

Ultimate jam band.

TR - electric
Bela Fleck - banjo
Leo Kottke - 12 string
Victor Wooten - bass
? - drums (I don't know very many drummers and I don't want to put down Carter cuz it's too obvious)

This would sound awesome because they are all experts at what they do. You could have Leo map out a basic melody with Vic following, TR adds his fill-ins, Bela then picks up the melody while Leo solos......and then each person gets to solo. No song is under 10 minutes.

Alas! Another SCI FAN! Hollingsworth is one hell of an orgna player..that Hammond is just amazing! When my dad had his band, they had to drag the organ (350 pound, approx.) and the amp ( 300 pounds, approx.) up three flights of stairs...rough.

This is a hard one, there are so many amazing musicians out there its hard to choose, but heres my pick

Vocals- Layne Stayley, and the singer of Live, ( I can't ever think of his damn name)
Guitar- Tim and my wonderful husband Joe
Bass- Flea
Drums- Danny Carey (he is wicked)

I wonder what a Tim (music) and Chris Cornell (lyrics + vocals) writing process would spawn, lol. That might make for an interesting blend.

Wow i don't think i've ever quoted myself but...Anyway, Oteil and derek trucks ARE putting out an album together with the jazz legend elvin jones. So that's REALLY REALLY close to my ideal trio, and probably a better drummer(elvin that is) than who i originally picked(in jazz at least).

John Lennon: Guitar/Piano/Lead Vocals
Paul McCartney: Bass/Piano/Guitar/Lead Vocals
George Harrison: Guitar/Sitar
And now for the drums I first want this guy Pete Best to play with them in Liverpool and in Germany, but eventually fuck it up and have Ringo Starr play drums.

Oh I forgot, all song-writing for that band needs to be done by Bjork, with additional help from Cher.

Vocals: Ashlee Simpson + Milli Vanilli + Scott Stapp + John Mayer + Britney Spears
Guitars: Mark Tremonti
Keyboards/drums(at the same time): My friend's 2 year old daughter Arianna

That would frickin rock.

But seriously, going on musicians I've actually heard and remember their names (which is precious few) I think this would make an interesting combo (too bad we'll never know):

Vocals: Freddie Mercury, Mindy Smith
Guitars: Dave Matthews (I expect scorn but I don't really care), Tim Reynolds, Brian May, Eric Clapton (ok I'll stop here, for TIMe's sake)
Piano: Jamie Cullum
Bass: Victor Wooten
Mandolin: Chris Thile
Drums/Percussion: Carter Beauford (so it's obvious. sue me.)
Violin: Sara Watkins
Bagpipes: Some good bagpipe player.

speaking of electronic instruments, what's the name of that thing that, I think, uses radio waves or some kind of waves, and you have to use both hands to control tone and vibrato and such? I read an article about it in Discovery some time ago, anybody got any clues?
