I could provide you a link that proves this movie has already been linked on the net. But you all probably already know that. I happen to have a computer saavy friend in the know, and he also is lucky enough to have a fast internet connection.........
In other words, he has downloaded the movie....I got to see it tonight....wooohoooooo..... Low quality and all that...right, but I still saw it...
I can't wait to see this movie in the theaters.. The quality was pretty low, but I could get the main ideas easily enough.
From here on is about the movie itself. I'm not giving any really important details, so you should be able to read and not have the movie spoiled for you. If you're uncertain at all, just don't read this post. I'm just giving you some details that might soothe your mind about the movie itself, not the story. The text in green is about the movie.
The movie is pretty slow for the first hour and a half or so...then the fight starts...
Yoda finally starts fighting at the end...He uses a cane throughout most of the movie, but when he fights, he's jumping around and sort of flying and swinging his light saber all over the place....it's just bad ass...
For those of you that were worried, JarJar Binks plays a very important role in this movie. But it just so happens that his important role doesn't have many lines at all. I'll go with the number...10. 10 lines in all, maybe. He's appointed a senator of some sort (I think he takes Amadala's place for a while) (hence his importance), but this role has him say hardly any lines. It opens with him in some of the first scenes and he's talking and all, and you're like o shit, here we go again...and then they basically drop him for a long time.
It's cool. I hope I haven't said too much to spoil the movie for anyone...I just gave you an idea what to expect. No details and all that. Hope you all enjoy it!!

Thats Blasphemous! You couldn't pay me to spoil the excitement by watching a low-res mono version a week early. I'd much rather wait.

saw the movie last night, and it pains me to say but it was pretty good. many lame stupid puns and jokes, and atleast a dozen or more obvious bad flaws in the digital effects. but, i have to say it is worth checking out. Ewen McGregger does a great job of bein obi wan, i could see him in the character a bit older as the obi wan in a new hope. Yeah it was good. hacky story line at many bits, but.... its good.

To tell you the truth.......I didn't think it was that great. I mean, it was good.....but now the Star Wars movies are relying far too much on computerized special effects. Look at the old ones. Everything was done with models and now they are considered some of the best movies ever made. It just seemed way too fake to me. There were scenes where one actor would be standing in front of a green screen talking to absolutely no one. And on the screen, there would be hundreds of aliens and such.
But it was better than the first one.....although making a movie that's better than the first one couldn't be too hard. Gimme some paper mache, a camera, and a $50 budget, and I'll make a better movie.

I thought the movie was good. I'm not as crucial on the movie itself, I think it was ok. I love the big picture, all the deception and stuff and how the republic converts into the empire, and how Anikin's shift to the dark side kind of parallels that. I didn't like the freaking puns 3PO used when his head was off, that was just retarded, i mean, they were just blatently lame. Yoda was cool but the idiots in the theatre that jude and i saw it in clapped when he started fighting, and i don't get y people applaude in theaters...but whatever. The fight was cool, even though i wanted to see yoda mess that guy up. I thought it was cool when he was directing the battle and stuff too. I think Lucas should focus more on making the digital shit look dirty...everything's too pure, nothing's worn down. That's what I think really takes away from the realism. That's my 2 cents, like it matters.

Loved it! Saw it twice this weekend: once on Friday while I waited for traffic to die down (thus, I was "late" to the TIM show) and again on Sunday. My roommate wants to see it again at Mann's Chinese theater in Hollywood and I want to see if we can find a digital projection venue. I saw Episode One in digital and it was pretty cool.
BTW, I like the WWII-look of so many of the spacecraft. They are super shiny, but they have a distinctly retro feel, I think.

p.s. Just checked http://www.starwars.com/episode-ii/digitalproj_list.html and it turns out I can kill two birds with one stone. Nice! |

Alright I've seen it three times now hehe. The first time I saw it I was really uneasy afterwords. Something about it wasn't sitting right, i was especially dissapointed with the big Jedi battle in the collusem because none of the Jedi's did anything cool! They didn't even have very unique saber tecniques or anything!
Anyway after my second time through I payed more attention to Windu's comment about how the Jedi's power has deminished and I guess that justifies it. I definatly liked it porgressivly more the second time and better still after the 3rd.
I seriously think Lucas dropped some major hints as to Sideous' origins. Alright Jango Fett said that he was hired to make the clone army by a man named Tyranus (dooku), and the cloners said that the order for the army was for the head of the Jedi order, a man named Syphadius, who died over 10 years ago. The first thing that caught my attention was the similarities between Syphadius and Sideous.
At first I thought it was just a cooincidence but there's a few other hints that I think suggest that Syphadius and Sideous are the same, like when Windu and Yoda share that strange look after Obi-wan mentions the name. Also it only makes sense that the Dark Lord of the Sith would be a fallen Jedi, I mean how else would he know how to use his powers so well.
I dunno I'm not explaining myself very well, but the more you think about it the more it starts to make sense. Just a hunch.

Isaac, I think you're on the right track, but this is the way I see it.
I think highly doubt Syphadius and Darth Sidious are the same person. Mainly because Darth Sidious is Palpatine is the future Emperor. If he used to be the head of the Jedi's and turned dark, the Jedi's would probably realize it and not just say "oh..he's dead..." Though, I think it's odd that they said syphandius died like 10 years b4 "clones" and that the first movie happened 10 years b4. Also, Jango didn't say he was hired to make the clone army by a man named Tyranus, he said he was hired to do whatever he was just out doing by Tyranis, which was just a cover cuz what he was really doing was trying to kill Padme. It is interesting though that the council didn't know about the clone army yet they authorized it's use and stuff? that part was all kinds of confusing....

They said, fairly explicitly, that the dark side was clouding their vision. That is why they didn't know what was going on. Aparently Palpatine is leading quite a double life as both chancelor of the republic and the Sith lord... using both identities to take his rise to power, which can be seen because he planned/facilitated the entire war to get the senate to appoint him his "supreme" power for the time being, with the idea that he would resign this power once all was settled. But obviously he plans to rule with an iron fist, and this is how he gained control and is how the empire will come to be in the next one. -J

Has anyone here read any Star Wars books that are set after Return of the Jedi. Like the X-Wing series. I suggest reading the first book, then continue the series if you like it.

i used to read the books back in late grade school, I liked them alot actually, I stopped reading them when I stopped reading in general...right around my freshman year in HS, when they made me read other crap. Did anybody ever play like X-Wing or Tie Fighter? Those were great games, I think they're way better than the newer star wars games as far as storyline and gameplay...

Really? the slow pig? that's interesting...I like the X-wing, it's just sweet. I don't mind the Y-wing, i just like a little more speed though. If u like that game, check out Descent: Freespace I and II, they're sweet games w/ that kind of space dogfight gameplay.

The slow pig, haha. The Y-Wing has always been my all time favorite. It's ion cannon on top is always fun to use, then afterwards you have a whole squadren of TIE fighters suspended in space without power, muhhahahahaha.

I always liked the B-wings, those things are fucking armed to the teeth, and they just look awesome. I also reall liked some of teh advanced Tie Fighters, there were some amazingly cool missions in the original Tie Figheter (like escorting Darth Vader, that was AWESOME!).
I beg to differe Fleabass, first off only Obi-wan says that Syphadius was killed nearly 10 years ago (the 10 years tickled my ass as well). Yoda and Windu both give that strange look which could mean that they're hiding something. Also if Sideous is powerful enough to hide right under the nose of the entire Jedi Council, then who knows what else he's capeable of. I dunno how Lucas is going to write it, but I strongly beleive that there's at least more to this Syphadius character then meets the eye (why else would they have mentioend the name at all, if it wasn't a clue to something). I guess we'll see in a few years.

I have the game, but I've been so caught up in the singleplayer that I haven't tried the multiplayer out. Talk about a badass game. Is there a way to look players up? If so we should definitely rumble! Or I'm always game for Unreal Tournament too... way too fun. :) -J

When you start the game... from the game screen hit shift+tilde and type "devmapall"
This should enable cheats.
Then type "g_saberrealisticcombat 1"
This will make it so that you can hack off limbs, heads, torso's etc. It's great! -J

I got Jedi Knight II also, and I played through the single player and loved it, but when I got to playing multiplayer games with bots it seemed like a step down. Like even with my saber throw maxed out I still can't throw it as fast or accuratly as before, nothing seems as powerful, and everything uses way more force.
So I've kinda regressed I got this kick ass single player level where you start with maxed out force powers and you just hack through 54 reborns of increasing difficulty and after you kill them all you fight the bitch and Dessan. Its called the ladder, highly recommended.

It was so neat how everything was falling into pieces: Anakin being so stubborn and angry, his mother dying, Jango Fett and his "son" Boba, the clones, so much stuff. I especially liked the part when Obi Wan says, "Oh Anakin, why do I feel like your going to be the death of me?" So, with all those clones, those that mean all of the storm troopers in the last 3 episodes are clones? Hhhhmmm, intresting. And the fight with Jango on the landing platform, SWEET. The Yoda fight scene was hilarious. I cant wait to get to see it again.

No I don't think it does. I think that after the clone wars they outlaw cloning. It doesn't make sense to me that they would label this period of time the Clone Wars if cloning was still practiced in the later movies. I don't think just because the armour is similar that it means the Imperial army is all clones.
I could be wrong though, we'll see. Only God and George Lucas (same thing) know for sure hehe.

I had a similar conversation with some friends this weekend. Most of them thought it was "completely obvious" that the storm troopers are clones also. I'm not totally convinced, but the fact that the uniforms look very similar -- and that each soldier is exactly the same size -- does lend credence to the theory. (One of my friends quoted Princess Leia to back up his position. Don't forget she said, "Aren't you a little short to be a Storm Trooper?")

If Storm Troopers were all the same size (as you indicated: "...that each soldier is exactly the same size..."), then one couldn't be "a little" short. If the size was definite like you said then any variation at all would mean that storm troopers could not be clones.
But since The Princess said "Aren't you a little short to be a Storm Trooper?" then one would have to assume that there is variation amongst the Storm Troopers, with which one would have to surmise that they are not clones.

My nerd knowledge tells me that Han Solo dropped out of Storm Trooper training, but that information was in one of the books...

Han Solo did join the Imperial Academy, but then dropped out when he was 19. It's not clear to me whether the Academy was a place where Stormtroopers were trained though.
Here's something that supports the clone argument: "Following the collapse of the Empire at Endor, stormtroopers were an increasingly rare sight in the galaxy. It was not until Grand Admiral Thrawn procured a working set of Spaarti cloning cylinders that the Imperial ranks of stormtroopers began to be replenished." -- see http://www.starwars.com/databank/organization/stormtroopers/eu.html (This website also lists the height of Stormtroopers as 1.83 meters.)

Yeah, that was the Imperial Academy, my bad. That would explain why they sound the same. Also, it's less actors to pay for voice overs.
And another thing about Jedi Knight II that's funny: Billy Dee Williams does the voice for Lando.

Is Jango Fett not a bad ass character or what? Too bad he had to die the way he did....mabye we'll get a glimpse of Boba trying on the armor and what not.

I just like how much more simplistic the plotline in Episode II was versus Episode I. The motives and means just made more sense. Unlike Episode I where you had to think a little bit about how and why Palpantine uses the Trade Federation to eventually make him Supreme Chancellor, Episode II just made a lot more sense. In Episode II you understood why everything was happening and everything had a reason, unlike in Episode I where they were going places for no reason other than to meet more characters. Much, much better.

Getting my ass whooped by Samuel L. is the best way to die in my opinion. If I had to go, that's the way i would choose to die.
