Ok, so that's the deal. We never really talk unless that's the case. And I don't mean drunk off my ass. I just mean considerably buzzed, and only when we are talking on the phone.
She's not technically my girlfriend, you know, but you know how it goes (neither of us are seeing anyone else, really). And yes, I did just get off the phone with her, and yes, we did actually "talk" so...yes, I'm drunk right now...
But that's probably not a good sign if I can't talk to her, openly, unless my speech is freed by a little southern comfort and pineapple juice, is it? I mean, I wouldn't think so, and if someone asked me, I would say no. But it doesn't seem all that bad. When we need to talk about something, I just have a few sips of SC and we get down to bidness.
I don't have a REAL question with this topic. But I would love to hear anyone else's experiences with a similar topic. |

My wife said once, "I'm not drunk enough" when I asked her to dance with me one night. I've never let her live that one down.

Problem is, my girl usually doesn't even know I'm toasty. That's probably better, cause she's really a prohibitionist at heart, I think.
So I guess she'll never have had enough to drink to dance with me.

I don't drink, ever, so I do not know what it's like to be drunk (or high, or anything really). But if you can't open up to a person without alcohol, that's a dependance and a serious problem. You'd actualy might want to consider talking with a counslor about this to see why you can't open up.
This comes from someone who has a psychologist and a psychiratrist and a nuerologist, and more! LOL! |

I really meant that seriously too, enthutimsiast. You really should talk to someone about it. You could even just call a help line or some sort, there should be some in your local phonebook. We have a bunch here in Madison, WI that I used a few times (somtimes saving my life because I could have stumbled into extreme depression and could have done stuff I would regret . . . or stuff that I wouldn't regret becase I'd be "gone" :( ). |

yeah, i used to be all about not drinking, too.
thing is though, i'm surpised he doesn't find your suggestions that there's something seriously wrong with him insulting. not everyone is, as the saying goes, "open." not everyone can easily admit to strangers, for example, that they've struggled with suicide. in fact, people who have often don't offer that information freely. there are things. or, some people are open, and there's just nothing there. it's not a "problem." if you can't open up to a specific person without getting drunk, that's not a problem, either. i know i'd have to be pretty drunk to talk to certain people. now, if he has to be drunk to talk to pretty much anyone, then that might be a problem. |

It's not a you-problem, it's an us-problem, and the solution is just to cut off the other person. I just got out of a three month relationship with a girl (same situation...pseudo-girlfriend) I could only tolerate while drunk...mostly because she would be drunk too, and her personality would mellow out a bit and not piss me off so much.
But, this does not warrant a visit to an AA meeting. |

Haha when I replied to this originally I was drunk. I couldn't even read what it said and I replied with like, "KJHFKJFD" or something, so I deleted it, I don't even remember.
Now I actually read it, and understand that was from 2002, and I'm thinking to myself, thats terrible, having to be drunk while talking to someone. I guess I never thought about that before, maybe I've done it. But now I am thinking about the many crazy nights, maybe I have to be drunk to hang out with myself. hah
Anyway, how is it working out?
EDIT: I do not have a problem in this area, I was kidding. |
