Not the usual place we play in SB and certainly alot different vibe to the room. VJ is more of a rock club. Very nice, great staff but a completely different audience than we usually get in SB. Gone was the sit down, listener-friendly audience we usual encounter when we stop here. I think the 30somethings that usually attend don't want to hang out in a place where they have to stand all nite and deal with the drunken kids. Not bad, just different for us. I think the NRG in the room provided TR with a totally different vibe than the past 2 shows and it ended up being the most unique of the 4 so far. Kevin can tell you more. Here is the setlist as printed in front of TR:

This show was recorded as well(audio) but the soundman told me he got an error message when he finalized the first disc. Cross your fingers, I haven't gotten to check it out yet and see if it worked or not. Again, will let you know when I do. Thanx to Ian, Steve and Craig for making our first trip to VJ alot of fun.

I'll split this review into 2 parts, 1st Santa Barbara, and 2nd the show.

Santa Barbara: My girlfriend and I decided to make a little mini-vacation of this show. Despite Fluffy always inviting us up to SB, neither of us had ever been able to go, and had never really been up there. So we got a hotel room for Sat night. with the plan to get there early Sat morning, spend the whole day roaming the city, enjoy a little nightlife before the show, sleep, have breakfast the next morning, and leave. Well, on the drive up, we were looking forward to driving along the CA coast, but it was foggy, dreary, and rainy most of the way. When we got to SB it was drizzling, but I swear the second we found parking and walked towards the main street, it just started pouring! We found a place to eat (really good) and hoped the rain would subside, but when we got out, it was worse... now it was cold, windy and rainy. We were so desperate that we went to the hotel early and they thankfully let us check in way ahead of time and we ended up staying inside and sleeping. Kind of a bummer, but oh well. Luckily in the evening the rain stopped a bit, and we enjoyed a nice local Italian diner with local wine, and then found a really cool little British Bar before the show.

On to the show. Fluffy was right about the place being a rock bar, I'd even call it a punk club since they were playing LOUD punk music before the set. Apparently the tickets said the show would start at 8:00, and doors didn't even open until 9:00, which meant Tim didn't hit the stage until 11:00, which was pretty late. and let me tell you, kids in SB know how to drink! I'd say 3/4 of the club was drunk off their asses by the end of the night. So take into factor the rock/punk club atmosphere filled with loud young 20 yr olds, and you'll see why this wasn't an intimate acoustic show, but I don't say that in a bad way, it just made Tim play louder, and more passionately. The highlight of the show had to be that Tim played FOUR Beatles songs, and Tiffany was wearing a Beatles shirt, so she was excited for them as well. Speaking of shirts, Tim had on a really cool shirt that looked like the STAR WARS logo, but said "STOP WARS". I wish I'd had gotten a picture, but due to the rain, and us walking around town I left my camera in the hotel.

The encore was the highlight for me. When I saw Tim pick up the electric, we left out seats, and braved the PIT. Since it was really loud in there, Tim's volume was loud too, and we were treated to the most ROCKING rendition of Whole Lotta Love I've heard yet. Tim left and came back playing All You Need is Love, which paired with Whole Lotta Love, he called his Loving encore. the crowd sang along to AYNIL, and Tim left to the back, and threw chocolates out to the crowd from behind stage. A great show with a very different feel to it.
