Well we rolled into town and discovered that Main St was completely shut down for a 3 day festival that ended on Sunday. You might ask "Well what does that have to do with us?" Well...Howards Club H is on Main St and all roads to the club were shut down. They were not opened again until just as we were leaving the club, after the show, to go back to the hotel. When we arrived I had to make my way down Main St on foot, locate the club and then figure out how I was gonna get the van to the club. I finally moved a barricade and instructed Rew to just drive down the side of the street beside all the tents and we ducked quietly into the parking lot without attracting to much attention and better yet, no police. We entered the club to discover a venue unlike most that we play. It was very much like the club in the Blues Brothers movie with the chicken wire in front of the stage. In fact we expected chicken wire in front of the stage. At first glance it definitely seemed to be on the seedier side of trax. Imagine pool tables and picnic benches indoors. Yep, thats about it. Seemed like the kind of place that Charles Bukowski and his friends would not be out of place. No one from the promoters end was there to meet us for load-in and soundcheck but we immediately met the bartender, Tuna who had been there since 10am slinging drinks. He was quite amiable and friendly and we breathed a sigh as it seemed like everyone was going to be quite nice even though we felt out of our element. When the soundman arrived we had an amazingly smooth soundcheck and had the room sounding sweet. At the last minute the opener dropped off the bill so we went on a little earlier than originally planned. As the enviroment predicted, it was a raucous crowd, quite enthusiastic, and at the same TIMe, definitely an audience of TR fans. They were requesting songs from deep in TR's catalogue. That was nice surprise. Subsequently, the following setlist was deviated from quite a bit. The sheer power of the largest crowd we have had to this point on the TouR inspired TR to some harder, louder versions of TR classics while also hitting almost all of the audience requests. Here's the setlist as printed:

Not To Beating, The Wood

Space Chickens
Ohio
Betrayal
The Truth
Che
Indoctrinate
Collective Guilt
-------------------
Stranger
Hands Full
Doom
Revolution All Underwear
Here Comes The Sun
Ocean
Hold On
----------------------
Mice and Men and Girls and Mice
Chatterbox or Jemez
666
Come To Daddy
Temptress Modulatorbater
-------------------------
Ancestors
Stream - Kashmir, 10 years, Friends
You Don't Know
Levee/Bridge of Sighs, Slide
-----------------------------
All You Need - Spastica

Some of the songs thrown in unannouced were Put the Gas Mask On, Y.A.M.S., and Letting Go. Must say that the version of Stream with the Led Zep medley thrown in the middle was astounding. The encore was kind of a hodgepodge of songs, mostly covers, and at first it seemed to me like TR couldn't find a proper encore for the crowd. I kept thinking he would start songs and then sorta drift into something else and when he came off I mentioned that I don't think I had ever seen such a disjointed encore and TR responded that it wasn't that at all, just a giant medley geared to what he perceived as a "covers" audience so he tried to hit the highlights. It was quite unique as TR encores go. All I could think was "I wish this show had been recorded!" Yes, thats right, this show was unfortunately not recorded. It will be one of those that only lives on in my memory and the memory of those in attendance.

Thanks Tim for coming to Bowling Green, Ohio. When I got on this website I could not believe you were coming to little Bowling Green!! You made my day. The 3 day festival you were talking about was the annual Black Swamp Arts Festival. I hope you had time to check it out. As far as the show goes, the setlist rocked. Everyone was requesting songs and Tim was happy to play them. I was the girl (in the brown v neck tank top) in the front row who requested put the gas mask on. Thanks again for playing it. I jammed out to Tim this year at wakarusa and in BG and enoyed both shows. Dissapointing that no tapers were at Howards but I'm not sure if BGSU students are into that. I met a lot of cool people in Howards that travel around jsut to see you and they were cool. Overall, great show, miss you and come back soon. Thanks for bringing great music, people and energy into Bowling Grenn, Ohio. Love to all peace
Michelle
