Posted - 07/16/2006 : 6:46:01 PM Well, it was another great show. First off, it was really nice to meet Fluffy and everybody else. The first set was TR's and was nothing less then amazing. He played some new songs, such as The Truth (which I really like), and some other songs that I have never heard before. TR also sang happy birthday to some guy named Tim. Was it Rew's birthday, or some guy in the audience, or did TR just want to wish himself an early happy birthday? Anyways, I got to tape all of TR's set, but during the break, the soundguy came down to tell us that Stanley has a no taping policy. So that stunk. Stanley was awesome and could jam the mess out of anything. I don't know any of his songs, but I know he played john lennon's Imagine. During the last set, TR came back out and they jammed together. That was probably the best part of the night. You could tell everybody was really enjoying it. The only songs I can remember they played were Here Comes The Sun and a Zepplin song that I can't remember the name right now. I'm working on the tape now, and when I'm finished I'll let you know. I'll probably do b&ps or trade or something. Fluffy automatically gets one.

I'm not really sure. I did notice, though, that he sounded he really good. He probably did.
Fluffy, no, I'm sorry. I couldn't tape the last set. After TR's set, the soundguy came down to tell us that Stanley has a no taping policy. So I couldn't get stanley's set or the jam set. I'll be sending you a dvd of TR's set soon. |

Posted - 07/22/2006 : 9:20:02 PM Hey Emily, did you record TR and Stanley's set? I hope so. Not sure where you heard that you couldn't record Stanley, he told us it was OK if you did. Anyway, hopefully you got the TR's set and the TR and Stanley set. For those curious, here is TR's setlist as it appeared in front of him:
01)Space 02)Jemez 03)Betrayal 04)Che 05)The Truth - drones ------------- 06)Try A Little Harder 07)Hands Full 08)Doom 09)Vantage OR Metamorph 10)Flouresence? OR Arroyo 11)Hold On.... ------------------- 12)Kundalini 13)Impermanence 14)Indoctrinate This Is Not A Test --------------------- 15)Stream
The reason I am so hopeful that you recorded the TR and Stanley set is because I missed almost all of it. Diane and Eura flew in for a small vacation with TR at the end of the TouR so when they arrived from Norfolk I had to take them to the house where they were staying and get them all settled. I returned as quickly as possible expecting it to all be over but was shocked to find TR and Stanley still onstage jamming. If they went on onTIMe they must have played for 1 hr and 10 mins together. I caught about the last 10 or 15 minutes. I am really hoping to see the whole jam. It was a rainy nite when we arrived in Kill Devil Hills but I am happy to say that the weather cooperated for the rest of our stay in the area. Stanley and TR seemed to really dig performing together and playing off of each other. So much so that they really went for it again the next nite. More on that in that show review.
It was great seeing you again and meeting your dad Emily, hope to see you guys again very soon. I looked for you both after the show but had no luck locating you. Thanx to Jon Beckner, Chris, V, Aubrey, Alyssa and the whole staff at OB Brewing Station for taking such good care of us and making us feel welcome. PS The seafood is awesome there, surprise surprise! The soundman recorded the sets for us at the soundboard but I am waiting for copies. Hopefully at some point we will have soundboard audio to marry with Emily's video. Keep your fingers crossed. |
