Posted - 04/21/2006 : 04:47:58 AM Great show tonite with a repeat of Rheginos by Marcus and TR that was phenomenal!! There were lots of message board folks in attendance so I will leave the reviews to more capable hands. Here is the setlist:
Known Unknowns Knowingly Knowing What There Is To Know....In Space... Betrayal Indoctrinate Che Time Has Told Me Lude Enterpretation Interdimensional Yada Yada D-Drone
Born To Synthesize Axiom Revolution All Around If The Ocean Had It's Way Stroke You Don't Know Butt Some Sexy Buick McKain (Scarab) Dreaming Kundalini Whole Lotta Prunes
Arroyo - (Here Comes The Sun?) Hold On I'm Comin Big Sky Doom (Levee Breaks)
Come To Daddy - diversionsquad All You Need Is Love(And a Better Lawyer)
As I mentioned above, after "All You Need" the encore was Marcus and TR doing a blistering version of Rheginos. Outside TR's dressing room after soundcheck Marcus was playing Rheginos for me and Kevin and TR comes out and shows Marcus a little part that he wasn't playing correctly. This prompted TR to grab his guitar and they had a little impromptu Rheginos jam working out the parts. When I mentioned that Marcus had thrown in a snippet of "Norwegian Wood" in Phoenix, TR got very excited, he had not noticed it. Marcus showed TR the Norwegian Wood part he had played and they jammed on that a bit and fleshed it out a bit more and during the song they did a interlude into "Norwegian Wood" and during Rheginos they each took a quite impressive solo. Needless to say it knocked my sox off! The great news is it was captured by us on audio and by 4(yes, I said 4)cameras. Kevin, Joseph had 2 cameras and our old pal Mason also filmed the show. So I am sure everyone will get to see this performance in some form or another.
As for setlist corrections, these are the ones I know for sure, there may be more. KevinLesko will probably be able to correct some more.
Stroke was Stream
Big Sky was not played tonite.
He definitely did do Buick McKane but I am not sure he did where it was in the setlist.
KevinLesko will be able to look over the printed setlist and offer up a better list of corrections I am sure. Plus there is always the "tale of the tape".
Also of note, TR started the set with what I would call an improv piece that he sang the words to the Beatles "I Want You" over top of. For anyone who has seen TR you will note that I don't think TR has ever started an acoustic set without first playing a "noise creation" improv piece, tonite he started with a song. It really caught me off guard. Didn't think to ask him what prompted that. Guess I will just leave it to the "whim of TIM". |

Posted - 04/21/2006 : 6:02:55 PM I ened up spening the night at my brother's house in San Diego last night, so I'm just now home, and only with enough time to take a nap before I leave to San Juan Capistrano for the Coach House show. So my review will have to wait. I'll just say that Come to Daddy kicked fucking ass, and Marcus and Tim doing Rheginos ---> Norwegian Wood ---> Rhegions note for note together was jaw dropping. More to come, I promise. |

Posted - 04/21/2006 : 1:05:01 PM this was my first tim show and it blew me away. ive seen dvds before but seeing him live was on a whole nother level.
the duet with marcus tore it up as well.
when marcus came on at first, everyone was a little hesitant and i was the only one right up on the stage (because i was taping). but after a couple songs, everyone got into it (and up to the stage), and everyone was impressed by him. according to marcus, it was his first time in san diego, and im sure he made many new fans that night.
tims vocals were slightly undermixed in the beginning of the show, but that was remedied pretty quickly. i thought the dreaming was smoking, especially with the hot intro.
the crowd kinda sucked. the ones that were into were REAL into, but there was quite a bit of chatter during both sets. but they made sure to cheer really loud at the end of each song, which was a nice gesture.
as fluffy said, there were 4 cams, but one was a HD cam, so we'll see how everything will get authored. im more than willing to author, but i dont know how the HD thing will work.
