Review and whatnot forthcoming... I did videotape the show, but I don't know how long it'll take me to get it converted and or make a dvd out of it. Depends on the quality, I guess. There was a backlight shining almost direclty at my camera and there was nowhere to move to... anyway, it's my usual angle, and I think it's going to be a good picture.

The show was great. I guess a highlight for me was Mercy Street. Another highlight was the crowd... from what I could hear, they were really respectful and requested things like Mercy Street and Hopeful Heresy. Stream only once or twice. TR said "tell you what, I'll play them both. Together." And then broke out Mercy Street for maybe 3 minutes, and then into Stream and then into You Don't Know.

The encore was something... I'll have to watch the tape to recall exactly what it was, but it was tight.

I took a bunch of pictures (probably 140) and a couple vids with my camera. I'll get to posting them promptly.

It's true that Fluffy isn't on this tour, but don't downplay Rew and TR... they're entertaining plenty, and both are as nice as can be.

He played a lot like what he's been playing lately. Probably half or just over of acoustic, an the rest electric. Songs like Che, Loose Interpretations, Betrayal, Sinceritox, etc, and then usual electric ones... If 6 was 9, Whole Lotta Love (during the set, not encore), Chaos View, Radar Contact, Mercury Direct (yay, great song!). Encore was 6 string acoustic from what I recall.

When I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I knew the glasses in the "TV Room" were some that TR had to have. So I found some, and took them to TIM.

During the soundcheck.

The guitars of the tour. I heard TR say he almost brought the SG. I wish he had. That guitar rocks hardcore. But these are nice too.

Start of the show. You'll note the glasses.

Feelin' it. Yes, it was hot in there...

Mercury Direct

Encore.

Setlist.

Glassy-eyed Fan Section.

Normal-eyed Fan Section.
Left is lead guitar from the opener, Mile Marker 7.

The opener was a local band. Mile Marker 7. http://www.indiecommunity.com/milemarker7.htm They were incredibly nice guys, and played good music. They'll have a live cd out soon, mostly recorded at Zydeco. As a sidebar, I want to make a comment about the lead guitarist's girlfriend. When I saw her, I though, helllll000ooo... Then Ken said "she's taken man". (So am I of course, but hey I can look.) Very pretty girl. Then later when MM7 introduced me to her, and I found out she's into camping and backpacking, well... hot^9 (yes, hot to the ninth power). Dude. She's a keeper. Go on and take her off the market.

And while we're talking about Kenneth (from this board), I'd like to thank him for putting me up last night. Hope I don't snore or anything... I think I could hear my self though if you could hear me two rooms away. So maybe I didn't. Anyway, thanks for carting me around B'ham, and getting me to the show and whatnot. I appreciate it!

Any pictures anyone wants larger sizes of, just let me know. I was taking pics at the size 2592x1944, so the ones I posted are vastly reduced. I may run through the pics again and see if there are more good ones to post. I'll post pics of the opener, too.

No problem on the upload. I should note that that's a shot from my camera, not my camcorder, so it's not the same quality as what will mainly be on the dvd. Not better or worse, just different.

As for completion date, I'm currently awaiting a program that should arrive in my mailbox sooner than later, and when I get that, I'll get started working on the dvd. So I'm playing the waiting game too.

Look, Sigmund. Look in the sky. The planets are on fire. It is just as you prophesied. The planets of our solar system, incinerating. Like flaming globes, Sigmund! Like flaming globes!!!!

Yes, and it occurred without the use of the Flaming Moe. I was sad to see that trend die away, but you can't fight "progress."

Haha, I saw your other thread, I knew it was you because I remembered you went crazy when he started Mercy Street > Stream. Yep, I remember.

Good show man, keep in touch here for progress notes on the video. I'll start the process later this week, and we'll see. :)

Thanks for holding my camera, by the way. I finally realized it was easier to just set it on the stage while I changed tapes.

My friend and I were nearly at the front of the stage, close to the speakers (I think we were right behind the guy that taped it ). Admittedly, I only know Tim's stuff from the all the D+T shows but I really appreciate him for his raw, individual talent now.

Only downside? The girl behind me who asked one of her buddies about 45 minutes in 'who this guy was'. Ick.

Congrats on your first concert! And don't feel bad about only knowing TR via D&T, that's how a lot of us got into the music. Glad to hear you liked the show, stick around and hang out for a while! Welcome aBOARD!

I do too! We would have a blast! I thought we were going to pull one off a few years ago in Colorado, then I couldn't even make the show and it turned out TR had to cancel. That was when he got pneumonia real bad. I am sure some day it will happen!

Actually, I met Jason at the Huntsville, AL show that TR played at a few months ago but we didn't get to hang out that much during that show. TR has played 4 shows in AL this year alone and I made sure to thank him for coming through AL. I'm certain that's not happened since at least the year 2000. Since I've been turned on to his music he hasn't been through this state, until this year. So I've seen 3 out of the 4 shows this year which puts my TR show attendance total at around 10 shows or so. Needless to say, I have never once been dissappointed. Each show I go to is better than the one before.

I should be beaten because I only recently got my copy of Parellel Universe but I love it! I had heard most of the songs but I'm glad I finally got those discs. Torch of Uncertainty is great. It's so long yet I wish it was longer. And of course, Face Off and Merc Dir are awesome. I thrash my house everytime I play those songs.

Arthen, you definitely should have flown in from CA for this show. Screw your mid-terms. Some things in life are more important. I hate you or anyone else for that matter had to miss it. It was classic and I'm still beside myself over all the things that transpired. Absolutely fantastic!

Well, time for me to go to bed. I'm drunk!

First of all, I'm drunk too! Secondly, I wish I could've flown out there, I would love to meet more board members, especially those well versed in TR-dom and Seinfeld-dom. Thirldy, I completely agree with the whole TR better with every concert! I was hoping for electric material at the last concert, but the venue was really not built for it. One day there will be a TR Task Force concert in the middle of the country, and we will gather from all walks of life to attend, and have a huge TR Task Force party, introduction, etc, and then we'll rock out to TR.

It's recorded on VHS-C, and I hear the archive doesn't allow cassette generation shows to be posted there. If anything I'll make a dvd out of it. I appreciate the offer from John, but I'm going to try to do it myself... that's the main reason I built a computer capable of doing it.

vhs-c? ouch that is old school. i can only convert minidv. so i couldnt help. put i can help if you have any authoring questions, i can point you in the right direction.

side note: ive been putting together a tim dvd site so far i have 2000 completed. http://www.dmbdvds.com/ndmb/tr/

Oh well.

I've also noticed that TR has really departed from the DMB association. Thank god. I think the worst will be people still shouting for You Are My Sanity or Stream.

Nice post Jason. And those pics turned out well. Looks like I made the glassy-eyed fan section with TR. Ha! Yea, I'm the retard with the Red Sox hat looking dazed yet not that confused. If you look close enough you can also see me standing towards the back of the stage in one of those pics as TR was doing his sound check.

I would have to agree the highlight for me was Mercy Street/Stream. When I heard someone request Mercy Street I almost shit my pants. Loose Interpretations also kicked ass as welll. I would definitely say the crowd knew what to expect and knew TR's music for the most part. From the past 3 shows I've been to I've really noticed the fact that TR has moved out from underneath that Dave shadow that all the DMB fanatics put him under which is great and it's about TIMe!

So yea, this is by far the coolest show I've been to because we had full access. Me and Jason got there pretty early and were just hanging out at the bar downstairs and all of the sudden I saw Rew walking past outside. As you know, he's hard to miss so we get up and help them bring their gear in. Then me and Jason get to hang out backstage with TR and Rew, just shooting the shit, having a couple of smokes , and watching them soundcheck. I politely said to Tim backstage, "I'm sure you've already got your setlist made up but if you could play Mercury Direct then that would be great." He said, "oh sure, I'll definitely play that" and he did and it fuckin rocked! He's so cool. It was fun hanging with them. It's a trip!

And Jason, it was my pleasure to let you stay at my place. You're a good shit! It was fun hanging with you and I'm glad you got this show taped and got all the great pictures. Good times...

Lucky! I would kill to see TR cover a Peter Gabriel song live, especially Mercy Street! Thanks for the review and pics, much appreciated, and good luck with the video.
