Well, here goes my feeble attempt to try and give you all some insight to the show last night in Birmingham, AL. First of all, Jason, I wish you could have been at this one. I'm going to step out and say this is the best TR show I've been to and I've been to at least 7 shows over the past 4 years or so.

Doors opened around 9:00 and it wasn't like it was in Huntsville. When people went in they ran for the front of the stage, not the bar. I slipped in on the far right side of the stage so I was about 5 feet from Tim on his left side. Jason, I was in the same position you were Saturday. I must say, that's not a bad angle at all.

Will Bradford opened the show around 9:30. His set was ok. It was pretty much the same as the Huntsville show. He played for about 45 minutes.

Tim came out around 10:30. In Jason's review of the Huntsville show I believe he said Tim played more electric for that show than acoustic and that's what I thought too. But last night was a lot different. He played a lot more acoustic than electric and not as many with vocals. I would say close to 70-30 acoustic. He switched back and forth between his 6 and 12 string Martins for at least an hour, maybe 5 or 10 minutes longer. I even started wondering if he was going to go to the electrics. The crowd was great though. Tim was in the mood to play and he was in the zone. The crowd was really diggin it and were amazed at what he was doing. Tim even acknowledged his appreciation to the crowd late in the show when he bowed to them. The show ended around 12:30. So with encore and everything he played for approximately 2 hours, yes, 2 hours.

I'm going to list "some" of the songs he played. I clearly state here that this is in no way Official or Accurate or Complete. This is only songs I remember. I started jotting them down as soon as I got home last night (1:30 am). Bare with me, I'm going on less than 4 hours sleep. Anyway, here is my incomplete list...

Intro
Jemez Rolling Waves
Rheginos and the Resurrection
Decline in Reason
As Far As We Can See
Try A Little Harder
Indoctrinate
Danger/Doom
Khundalini Bonfire
Radar Contact
Snake
Backdoor ??? (He played the intro with Eura but I think he went away from this song)

Encore
All You Need is Love
Hear My Train A Comin Intro (then in to something electric)

He also played about 4-6 songs during his acoustic set that I have no idea what they're called or where they're from. It was my first time hearing them. I think one of them may be the jazzy piece I've heard about and one may have been the classical song that no one knows the name to. They were all great though and I hope the set list comes soon. I'm not as good with the names to his newer electric stuff but there was more of that too. I probably only listed half the songs to the show. Remember... he came out around 10:30 and it was over around 12:30.
BTW... Parallel Universe was not there.

As I said, this is the best show I've been to. Ticket was $12, venue was 20 minutes from my house, and Tim absolutely had his way with every song and the crowd was really into it and respectful. If I had to pick 2 songs that were my favorite I'd have to say Rheginos and Try A Little Harder. Major thumb slapping and unbelievable speed. Overall it was an A+ by far.

Both "Che" and "Uncle Chair" are full tunes according to my gig (that's if I got the song order correct, ... finally). Coming soon to an archive near you...

glad you got it, I'll be on AIM tonight later if we need to talk about the show.

OK, after seeing Fluffy's setlists, it looks like CHE was the crazy new song that was the 2nd song on the webcast, and for what it's worth that song was definately not on the show that you sent me Jason... more on that later though.

Still nothing on Che. Sorry, I just had to make a side note about Uncle Chair. But I'm still on the look out for some info on Che as well.
enthuTIMsiast Posted - 04/19/2005 : 5:13:25 PM
but that doesn't answer the question about Che, right? Or did I miss it?
Kenneth Posted - 04/19/2005 : 4:55:20 PM
I know. It's on the setlist above in this thread also which is why I mentioned it. During the show I thought he said the song was called Uncle Chair but I wasn't for sure. I wasn't sure I heard him correctly. Anyway.... Thanks be to Fluffy for giving us all the setlists and clearing it all up. You da man!!!!

According to Fluffy's setlists: http://www.timreynolds.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5825, there is a song called "Uncle Chair."
Kenneth Posted - 04/19/2005 : 09:53:19 AM
You know, I could have sworn during this show I heard Tim say "this next song is called Uncle Chair" but since I wasn't real sure I understood him correctly I didn't want to say that was the name of a song and look like a retard.

I'm with Jason, I too would like to hear more about the song Che.

Fluffy, do you think you could get TIM to expound on this Che thing sometime, and then fill us in? On the recording I have from Huntsville, there's no discernable song in the Che area of the setlist, and I'm curious.

I'm assuming it's the same encore he played in Nashville as well.

I recognized the Hear My Train A Comin' intro, but wasn't sure of the electric song that followed.
Kenneth Posted - 04/13/2005 : 10:27:52 AM
I didn't personally see anyone taping it but I could be wrong. I certainly hope it was and I hope a set list goes up.

I think you're right about him playing "From This World". Seems like I remember him playing that both nights.

New album wasn't there.

Oh man I so wish I could have gone! Great review, it sure made me want to have been there!

FYI, at Huntsville TIM went from "Hear My Train A Comin'" to "From This World", probably what he did at Bham as well.

And now the important question....

did the show get taped? ?? oh man I hope so.

And I'm surprised at the lackluster response to Will. Maybe I'm just biased because I hung with him for a while... but his Seepeoples cd Corn Syrup Conspiracy is GREAT! If you go to a show, definately pick it up! Haven't listened to the other one yet. If it's hard to justify $10, remember that TR is on there for two songs. :)

It's sort of funny. I'm classically an acoustic fan by and large, but for some reason I love when TIM plays electric and even sings. That's why I like Babylon so dang much.

Also, did Fluffy get the new album? I can't frickin' wait!

Anywho, great review!!!
