So 2 hours driving in driving rain paid off. Probably the best TR show I've ever seen. If memory serves me correctly he teased Natural Mystic in the soundcheck, which was awesome. I don't have a setlist (I'm no good at that type thing) but I know he played DOOM (a favorite of mine), Face Off, Flourescence, Sanity, As Far As We Can See (I think)... He also played Natural Anthem, which I thought he introduced as "something new" (I misheard, as now I and probably already you know it's a Neil Young song [not a huge NY fan]). But Natural Anthem was a damn great song. TIM said later that when he heard the song it touched him so much that he cried. I felt the same way. Encore was... Stream. I felt like a moron... some guy asked me if he'd play Stream, and I said no way. I think he played it just to shut them up (there were about 20 people yelling for it). But the highlight of the encore was the next song. A full version of Whole Lotta Love. That's right, my favorite guitarist playing a song by my favorite band! And it was a hell of a version, too. I told TIM later that I thought fog was going to come up from behind him and he was going to break out a bow (like this or this). He didn't but amazingly it sounded just like he did. Perfect!

It was a great show, and I highly recommend everyone go to every show they can! Preaching to the choir if you're reading this, I guess...

I didn't take pictures (my personal photographer [Fluffy] did that). I didn't video either, which I'd considered doing. Figured I'd just watch and enjoy this time, instead of the video troubles.

By the way, the show was basically in four parts (maybe 4-5 songs each). Acoustic 6 then acoustic 12 then Les Paul (Custom, I think- the black one with white trim), and a Fender Stratocaster (I think). Pretty even song distribution, with acoustic set lasting 50 minutes, and electric lasting the rest of the show (billed at 90 minutes, and was just about that, maybe +5 minutes). Some background was with acoustic later, and Stream, but the rest was full electric with the Underdogs. It's worth noting since I believe the picture archive will eventually evidence this, that TIM played a good long solo on the Strat down on his knees playing with his teeth. I have to say, I enjoyed the electric set much more. But that's the breakdown. 50 minutes acoustic, 45 minutes electric.

Some notable concert banter:

That song was called Danger and DOOM.

Have Sex. Fuck abstenence. Abstenence Doesn't Work. Use a condom!

For encore:
Now everybody get naked!!

TIM talked in a British accent as he is prone to do, which prompted a lot of the people around me to ask if he's British. I was trying to listen to him play, so I didn't get involved.

TIM aslo had an interview which he described as one of the most bizarre experiences he's had. He said the interview was like it was on another planet or something. I believe one notable question from the interviewer was something to the effect of "how did your band get named Timmah?".. Wish I'd have been there for that...

But it was a great show!!! New album should be to Fluffy by Nashville (which is next Tuesday, I believe).

On that note, anyone who wants to paypal me the money for the album (I'm guessing 15 or 20 bucks should do it - just whatever cost is, I don't want to make anything obviously) can get me to get one for them. I'll be going to Huntsville and Fluffy and I have it worked out.

Incidentally, I've always said that it's better if you download shows and whatnot by artists to just give them money at shows. I tried to do this with TIM at this show. I told him what I was doing, and why, and he said "Oh man, you don't have to do that, give the money to some needy person" and then he said something I didn't catch, but then quickly retracted it, so I'm guessing it was funny, but I missed it. . Anyway, I'm not sure that his statement about giving money for downloading TIM's live material is broadly applicable, but you can consider it. Buy all TIM's albums. Then donate money to needy people.

Good times!!

quote:
"Natural Anthem"

Oh, Mother Earth,
With your fields of green
Once more laid down
by the hungry hand
How long can you
give and not receive
And feed this world
ruled by greed
And feed this world
ruled by greed.

Oh, ball of fire
In the summer sky
Your healing light,
your parade of days
Are they betrayed
by the men of power
Who hold this world
in their changing hands
They hold the world
in their changing hands.

Oh, freedom land
Can you let this go
Down to the streets
where the numbers grow
Respect Mother Earth
and her giving ways
Or trade away
our children's days
Or trade away
our children's days.

Respect Mother Earth
and her giving ways
Or trade away
our children's days.

Also, this is my souvenir from the show. Thanks to Rew for giving it to me. Thanks Rew!!!

P.S. - Those new guitar picks are wicked.

Thanks Kevin! Yes, WLL was on electric. The Strat. I'll do a review of last nights show, but right now I must sleep. I didn't get in until 5am this morning, and then went to church. Maybe I'll review it and post my pics.

Honestly, you can count on it. In fact, bring a few cases of Tecate.

One shit weasel actually screamed for Stream just when TIM was done playing it. And he wasn't joking. That's how stupid he was.

Also, I just updated the review.

I feel your pain on the "stream" issue...

A CRAP load of TCU brats were yelling STTREEAMM! And I felt like such a jackass even though I wasnt saying it. I didnt think he would play it..but he did..and I think your right about shutting them up.

One person at the aardvark said.. " play with your dick " and he replied..."I'm sorry ..I've been doing that all along"!

Yeah GuitarGuy, it matches my other one nicely. I keep the other one with me at all times (in my wallet). No sure why. Just one of those things.

You made my morning! So glad it was a great show and the rain stayed away! What I wouldn't give to hear him play Whole Lotta Love! Awesome! The only bad thing about all this is that now I know how all of you who don't get to see Tim very often feel. Kind of like there is a big party and you aren't invited!

I will be looking forward to your review of the Huntsville show!

Oh man! I can't wait to see him on the 22nd! I'd better go buy my tickets this weekend! Glad you had a good time.
