Posted - 08/17/2004 : 2:49:24 PM Alright. I know my review can't match Kevin's so I'm not even going to try. I can't give a setlist because i didn't get a glimpse at Tim's setlist and am not familiar enough with the new songs to give a full run down.
First off, the crowd was very different, mainly due to the fact that the Coach House put 3 fucking openers before Tim. This meant that there were a lot of people there who were friends/family of these openers who stayed around and chatted through most of Tim's set. THose that did come to see Tim were probably mostly DMB fans judging by the bumper stickers in the parking lot and the loud reaction to Stream. Also, the Coach House soundman wasn't too good. Tim's mic went out once in between songs and Tim also commented that the D flat note was causing a lot of feedback. Tim was relatively talkative but he mummbled a lot. he did have some good lines including "the pledge" in a W impersonatiom.
Tim opened up with a loop type song that I assume is Space Resonant Field. He then played a few more tunes on the six string including Do You Believe and Indoctrinate. He then switched up to the 12 string and played some stuff off of Nomadic Wavelength(sorry, forgot the name). He played a really cool version of Stream into a spacy type jam and then back into Steam. He also played a song he said he never played before and might never play again. I'm assuming this song is a cover but I'm not sure of what. He closed with a song he called "Do You Know what i'm Fucking Saying" into "Kashmir" and walked off. He came back out for the encore and picked up the electric. The encore was Tribulation, Hornet's Nest, and Pathetic(I think). During the last encore song, Tim played guitar with his teeth to the delight of those that stuck around until the end.
Oh yeah, the show was taped by somebody.
I apologize for not being able to be more precise in my setlist. Hopefully, Kevin can clear it up.

Posted - 08/17/2004 : 3:11:11 PM I don't know if I actually spotted you because there were a large number of people hanging out there after the show. I think you were taking down your gear though.
Tristan did rock. I'd like to get a copy of that if possible. No hurries though. Glad you didn't tape the other openers. That guy that butchered "Wonderwall" by Oasis and "A friend of the Devil" by the Grateful Dead was absolutely horrible.
Edit: Nevermind, Tristan is listed on archive.org, so I'll just get it off of there. |
