Posted - 07/06/2008 : 02:13:01 AM ssia; does anyone know if Tim is sponsored by anyone (Gibson, Marshall, etc.)? For some dumb reason I was posting at Ants, and the topic of Dave being sponsored by Taylor came up, and I got to thinking about Tim's status on this. Any insight? |

We joke about it all the TIMe but I think the only sponsership that TR would accept is a Starbucks sponsership for FREE coffee. hehe
I just found a thread from 2001 talking about this exact subject:

Fun read!!!! ENJOY!
PS: I would personally be sponsered by Kraft not Swanson. hehe
On the same subject Dan Martier just accepted an endorsement deal from Paiste.
Fluffy, are you sure Tim has not accepted a sponsorship from LOVE 'N LIGHTS lighting company? Last I heard they were setting the concert circuit on fire - literally! |

Posted - 07/12/2008 : 11:25:52 AM I'd scoop up a TR signature Martin in a heartbeat. Oddly enough, a lot of people would probably consider the Martin D-35 the Tim Reynolds signature guitar, just because it's widely known as the acoustic model he usually plays. |

Bummer. I would totally have been stupid enough to buy one just because of his name on it. I found this money tree in my backyard, and I'm just trying to find something to spend money on...!
But it's cool that he declined. Although I think that Martin donates a portion of the sales to a charity of the artist's choice.
I say that buying one would not be stupid. A signature Martin is not just a guitar with a name on it. It is a custom built to Tim's personal specifications. What Tim wants exactly in his guitar, what it looks like, and everything. Dave did, and it is a pretty sweet guitar he had made. David Gray had one as well, and that one is also very nice.
If Tim had a signature guitar by Martin, and I had the money, I would buy it in an instant. Why? Because that man knows his sound, and I would love to have his sound (even if I am a less complicated player than him).
by the way, I got my new Guild yesterday! I LOVE this guitar!!!!! GAD-40CE, awesome guitar!!!!!!!! I am in love . |

That's so cool, good for him! What else has he done? I love what he's doing with TR3, but I really wish I could hear more from him...any ideas Fluffy?
Oh thanks for clearing up the endorsement issue with Tim; I can't believe there could have been a TIM Martin! I woulda bought it... |

Posted - 07/09/2008 : 8:42:49 PM I remember Marcus Eaton mentioning he was sponsored by Fishman and I thought he said Tim was too, but I could be remembering it wrong. My gut is to say Tim is not sponsored.

Posted - 07/09/2008 : 6:34:23 PM I wasn't implying that you were saying being sponsored is selling out. Just sometimes when we talk about DMB stuff here, it gets touchy. So I was just playing it safe so they wouldn't be any arguments.
But yeah, don't think he is. |

Posted - 07/09/2008 : 5:17:26 PM Yeah I definitely wasn't comparing being sponsored to selling out or anything; that's a ridiculous concept, as a musician ;) Well thanks for the insight/opinion; I kinda figured the same, but I thought there might be someone with some insider info. Thanks! |

Posted - 07/07/2008 : 02:18:55 AM I say no. I can't give you an official answer, but from what I know of Tim and how he deals with corporations . . . no . . . no.
Dave does endorse Taylor, I believe, but he isn't a sell out for it because he plays Taylors and honestly loves them. Just like his martins. He also endorses D'Addario strings, but he's been using those for years. Again not a sell out for it because he truly likes them and uses them. Plus you know money from those endorsements probably mostly go to Bama Rags Foundation.
But as for Tim, I still say no. |
