Posted - 10/13/2006 : 02:10:56 AM My suggestion is if they want to have dave or dmb on the tag with Tim, it could read Tim Reynolds (Collaberator with DMB/DM). And it's the trust, he is a collaberator of DMB/DM, but he isn't OF DMB. It would draw fans, but would make the point that he isn't a part of DMB.
Also, here in madison, there's a lot of clubs, taverns, and bars to plat at. As well as coffee shops, college places (UW), and even old performance halls/clubs/thingies (like the Barrymore where Tim was just at). There is also the new BIG Overature Center for plays, live acts, and tons of stuff (Ravi Shankar is coming to there next year!). Plus then there is the beig Colleseum, The Kohl Center (hockey, basketball, ect.) and Camp Randall (UW football, Floyd and the Stones played there).
It's also pleasently Liberal in madison, lol ;) . |

I am pretty much in the same boat. I would love to do music full time but where I am located limits me as far as venues to play, and finding bandmates. I basically work 40 hours a week at my day job, then work the evenings doing my music, whether it be writing/recording or playing a gig. Throw in taking some classes on top of that and I have a pretty full schedule. I hope that my work will lead me to a bigger city in the next few years which should at least lead to more frequent gigs, or at least hopefully a larger selection of possible bandmates. |

Posted - 10/12/2006 : 5:22:38 PM Hey Erich, Yeah it's the venue getting around what we put out there and there is also the possibility that they haven't looked closely at the contract. We talked about this once before in the following thread:
http://www.timreynolds.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4105
SomeTIMes they post their info before they have a signed contract. First contact is obviously made with the booking agent. I follow-up when I advance the show and if I notice a blatant problem I will mention it then. SomeTIMes when I go to advance I discover that they really haven't looked over the attached rider to the contract in a very detailed manner so it could just be an oversite on their part. That particular one sounds more like a mistake than an attempt to mislead folks. I have developed a thick skin about such things for the most part. They are just trying to make sure the word gets out as well as possible. I don't think there are to many DMB fans who wouldn't know the real relation of TR and DMB so it probably doesn't hurt to much. It's the wording they could do better like it states in the rider from the link above. |

Posted - 10/12/2006 : 5:22:06 PM I hear ya Erich, however most people only know of TR via the DMB connection. From a purely marketing standpoint, this is good advertising. Regardless of how we TR fans feel, if I was a club owner and had talent coming who was associated with a well known big band, I would certainly want to put that out there in the advertising. It is after all, a business.
I think TR allows it for that reason. I would prefer the wording "collaborator" rather than "of" the Dave Matthews Band. I feel it is more accurate, but that is just my opinion, and ya know what they say about opinions............ |

Doesnt the TR Crew ask specificaly that they don't say this? Irritation aside that this is the only way many venues wish to market a Tim show (though, to their benefit, its the best way to attract people to a great show... who am I to say anything if Tim gets ticket sales?), I thought that Fluffy tells them specificaly not to do so when the venue is first given the show information. |

Posted - 10/10/2006 : 11:55:31 PM As I wrote in your other thread, I only found out that it will be at the train station in Manayunk. On Cresson Street, one block off of Main street.
If you are a concert virgin TR fan, you definitely have to lose your virginity by seeing TR live! LOL
Hope to keep this thread near the top until Fluffy gets the shows posted on the home page. That way people can make plans to catch one of the shows. |

Posted - 10/08/2006 : 12:34:01 AM Does anyone know any more information about TR's upcoming shows in Philly at the Manayunk Station, like how to get tix and what time, I know the dates, but that's it. I can't find anything about it online, there is no website for the Manayunk Station, or at least I couldn't find it. I'm a Tim Reynolds concert virgin. I need to see him live. |

I think what Tim said in response to someone asking "Are you having fun Tim?" at the show on 02/16 sums it up. He said something along the lines of "I am so having fun. This is much better than working at Kmart"
Personally, I don't think that could be truer. I think a lot of us here would much rather be playing music full time and making a living doing what we love than working whatever 9 to 5 job we have now to pay the bills. |
