Posted - 02/16/2006 : 3:55:44 PM I know I'm coming from behind here, but is there any way possible that someone can repost a link to the Tim/Stanley videos? I can't even begin to tell you how bummed I am that I missed the re-post.
I'm dying to see the clips of the two of them together, but I'd love to see any of the available clips from the show, or the full thing.
Please, please. Thank you.

Any way of getting these files onto a DVD? Just data files would be fine, I'd love to turn it into a playable DVD.

Posted - 01/26/2006 : 4:06:49 PM So, I was thumbing through a magazine, and I saw this reveiw of the show:
Nags Head, NC Kelly's - November 19 Kids In Dare Support Benefit with Tim Reynolds and Stanley Jordan Once a regular stop on the mid-Atlantic tour scene that launched the likes of Reynolds' long-time buddy Dave Matthews, North Carolina's Outer Banks no longer gets many national live acts. In fact, it took a local charity, The Kids In Dare Support to draw Tim Reynolds and Stanley Jordan together (raising $7,500 by night's end). Reynolds stepped up first, plugged his acoustic into a series of effects racks and began his percussive, two-hour set of thumb-raps and lyrical melodies, moody originals, Peter Gabriel medleys, classically-injected instrumentals, electrified Zep covers. Then he took a final, daring leap. Donning some vintage flight goggles before a giant chain-link mic stand, he announced, "It's time to get weird." And when he'd dramatically clanged out the last industrial notes and stood frozen, Reynolds' wasn't the only mouth hanging open. By contrast, Jordan held the stage with a single Vigier Arpege guitar and nary a drum machine, vocals or other accompaniment. Just the delicate tap of ten fingers on the fretboard, which somehow produces whole symphonies. Lightly stroking the strings, Stanley lovingly coaxed the crowd into his web with a tapestry of favorites and improvisational surprises-- everything from holiday selections such as "Greensleeves" to his hallmark, "Eleanor Rigby". Always understated, his focused expression and unorthodox approach demand attention. He never uses a pick, only occasionally strums with his chin, and yet still plays rhythms and runs scales simultaneously-- perfectly-- stopping only to say "thank you" or to politely ask the man sitting onstage to stop smoking. Within 45 minutes, Jordan has so wooed the audience, all would've left happy and soothed. But with a half hour left 'til midnight, Tim leaped onstage, drumming six strings into a rhythmic train that Stanley had no problem jumping aboard. For 20 more impromptu minutes, the two played together for the first time ever, providing the night's climax with a glowing rendition of "Here Comes The Sun".

I made a DVD out of these videos. It was originally two big videos (because it was on two tapes), but I chopped them down for the purpose here. It is pretty horrible quality but I don't know how to change that. |

Posted - 12/21/2005 : 12:47:38 PM As a matter of fact, they did play together at the performance the 2nd nite at Kelly's. TR played the first set and then Stanley took the state for his set. At the end of his set he invited TR back to the stage and together they ripped thru an improv song that TR referred to later as possibly the best jam with another guitarist he had been apart of. He was ecstatic. After the improv they finished the evening with a duet version of The Beatles "Here Comes the Sun". It was a wonderful thing to behold. They both looked like they were having so much fun together. I did get a few pics of the event but the lighting was such that they aren't great but you will be able to see TR and Stanley performing together. To our knowledge the show was not officially recorded, although there was a girl in the front row with a handheld video camera. I had talked to her before the show about saving some of her battery power for the end since it was likely they would jam together at which timE she informed me she didn't think she had much battery power left at all. When I went up front during the encore to take pictures I did not notice her taping, only ENJOYING. I guess it's one of the sad cases where "You really had to be there!" Maybe next timE!! |
