Posted - 09/27/2005 : 12:20:25 PM it would be amazing to here tim on any other instrument. I could only imagine that he would kick some ass on a bass. He has such a good rhythm with his right hand especially his thumb that it would only be natural for him to dominate the instrument!! |

Posted - 08/29/2005 : 8:52:21 PM Ya I almost bought a sitar back when I was way into listening to Indian music and it consisted of like most of my listening. Then I tried to play one. Damn they were hard to get much of a sound out of. They are really quiet. I still need to get transmigration too. Now that it's newly remastered I'm going to have to make room in the budget. |

Posted - 08/29/2005 : 8:35:06 PM Tim plays a sitar on 3 of the tracks on Transmigration: "A distant Episode", "The Djinn Awakes", and "Dhama". Once again, I highly reccomend this disc:

Posted - 08/29/2005 : 5:24:48 PM Chances of most of us on the boards ever hearing Tim play sitar are slim to none, man.

Posted - 08/29/2005 : 02:28:32 AM Soldo interviewed Tim once where he chatted about the Sitar:
http://www.timreynolds.com/interviews/viewInterview.aspx?interviewID=11
quote: JS: I also read that you used to switch up instruments almost every gig at Millers.
TR: I literally learned to play the sitar in front of a crowd at Millers. As well as the violin and the log drums and shit like that. Even the cello, but the cello is one where I only got to a certain point and said, well this one that you have to drop the rest to really get. It's much more challenging then a violin. For me anyway.
JS: Did you ever get into effects with the sitar or anything like that?
TR: Not really, it's hard enough to get a sitar micked up to fill up a small room cause it's such a quiet instrument. It's like really quiet. Like the quietest instrument I've ever played, but it sounds amazing.
JS: I tried a sitar once for 10 minutes and it was insanely hard.
TR: Yeah I used to fuck my fingers up playing it.

Posted - 08/28/2005 : 10:13:10 PM Yeah it would be nice if some old recording of Tim playing on the sitar surfaced, but I've not heard of one. I remember discussing this in the past, but my memory on this subject has faded and I can't remember if Tim was even owned one these days. |
