i have a 20gb. When i import it it turns it into an mp3. Which a whole cd is like 50megs or something like that.

hey which ipod do you have (size is my question, gb)? And what format to you play? If mp3, what bitrate? Seems that all of TR's cds when formatted at 128 bit is about 700mb (might not even be all the albums, but it's 10 of them). Seems that if I put that on an ipod, I have used a huge chunk of the capacity.

So what do you do when you run out of space? Lower bitrate? how does one decide...

i have a much simpler policy on buying cds. it's really great. i call it "if you like the songs on the cd, you buy it." i try not to concern myself with the popularity of a band or artist, because that has nothing to do with music. if the album is worth buying, that is to say, if the music's good enough, then you buy it. if it's dog shit, don't buy it. i always download anything before i buy it, because i don't want to waste whatever absurd amount of money cds cost. if the recording industry and stores don't like it, make the cds cheaper. if i likes what i download, i buy it. if i don't hate it, i'll just keep the downloads and maybe wait for the band to make some music worth buying. if it's no good at all, i just delete that shit.

i don't get the mentality of some bands. "well we put the cd out, and you have to buy it regardless of what quality it is." how's that for a shitty way to do business. would you pay for a painting you've never seen? some produce you haven't felt or whatever it is you do? buy a chair you don't know will stay up? of course not. musicians aren't entitled to money just because they put out a cd. they have to make a decent product just like everyone else who does things for money.

that said, i'd buy the tim reynolds cd again. it's only six dollars, and it's a fantastic cd.

I agree, If breaking the CD is as big a deal as your making it, buying another copy would be a no-brainer. This would also support TR. I have no problems with piracy of your John Mayers of the world but the smaller artists I always make the effort to try and buy thier discs. Every CD purchase counts to them. Anyway sorry about you loss guy!

This may sound a bit callous, but buy another CD you winjer.

Look, it's 6 bucks...stop your whining.

I downloaded the live songs but. . . There is something about the studio version that you cant beat. I wish i wouldnt have cracked my cd. Could someone send me a couple songs like:

Enity
Florecence
And Then they were free
Stanger in a strained land
Decline in reason

If some one could send them to me that would be great. If not i can understand. I could be lying, but why would I?

SongThatJaneLikes@gmail.com

I use VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) to play them or FLACer (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19903&vid=119813) to convert to WAV then use iTunes to convert to mp3.

Man, I remember when I screwed up my Gossip of the Neurons album...I was shattered. So, I bought it again. Totally worth it. Same with Live at Luther and Live Art.

http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

There are mac versions of the FLAC frontend software there. Should be just what you need. OS X only it looks like.

Or play the flac files directly with this:

I had a similar experience with my chaos view cd. I accidentally closed my console on it and it shattered. It was a sickening display.

How about going to the archive and downloading live versions of the songs?
