Posted - 08/08/2003 : 3:57:53 PM I love tim's music - he's a huge inspiration; what I find most impressive is his obvious deep understanding of musical theory and what not, which so many "musicians" lack nowadays - which leads me to my interest/question: I'd love if tim would play some jazz stuff - the source of his musical reservoir; the TR3 was a great sample of this - if tim's creative direction happens to guide him back there, I'd be one of the first fans to buy tickets to hear tim play out with a trio and tear the living hell out of a ballad, or smoke some up-tempo changes.
I saw tim at the wetlands before it closed in 2001 and as peter prince ended his set, tim came out, sunglasses and all, soloing/comping along with the moonboot lover - throwing all kinds of #9 and b9 voicings in, catching everyone's ears, throwing himself spontaneously and deeply into the music. That taste made me want more - does anybody know if anything like that might happen??

Posted - 08/08/2003 : 4:09:50 PM TR has never mentioned it but who knows where his moods or inclinations will take him. I can tell you that he has been listening to and interpreting some old faves from the ECM catalog, of which he is a BIG, BIG fan. On our last run of shows 2 of those covers made appearances in different sets over the run of dates. So I guess it's safe to say anything is possible, it just depends on where his mood takes him, as we all know, but don't give up hope. In the immortal words of Judy Tenuda, "IT COULD HAPPEN!!!" Anything could! |
