Ok, I saw a Soulshine (Gov't Mule) with TR on Kazaa. Has TR ever played with gov't mule? (if so, when?) or is this just one of thousands mislabbled?

BTW what do ya'll think of Gov't Mule?
thanks

Warren comes out and plays 'Cortez the Killer'. Now that was an audio orgasm.

I'm so incredibly excited to see Neil Young with Crazy Horse this summer. And I sure hope they play Cortez. I'm hitting quite a few of his shows so I'm sure I'll hear it. Like a Hurricane and Powderfinger and Cinnamon Girl too. I Love Neil but Neil with Crazy Horse is just the best. It's all about the distortion and thrashing Les Pauls. I'm not even as excited to see any of the other shows I'm seeing even Pearl Jam(don't tell Eddie).
Anyway I thought I'd blab on about Neil since Thomasodes comment about
Cortez the Killer reminded me how excited I am for this orgasmic music!!

Ten silver saxes
a bass with a bow
the drummer relaxes
and waits between shows
for his cinnamon girl

I know that in one of the interviews on the main page TR talks a bit about the Mule tour. I definatley remember him talking about being in their tour bus or something along those lines.

Hey, as for more synchronicity, how about the fact that CW is playing at the Paramount in NM (where TR plays all the time)? Is Tim planning on attending?

hard as fuck to find any info on the opening sets for these mule shows, other than the fact that it was tim. Im doing some ISO's at mule and phill sites, hopefuly i'll get even some info or a tape or two.

That's really cool! I wish my world was smaller on the music level. I need to meet more musicians. Hopefully you and Tim if you happen to take a trip to the west coast! ;)

Don't even go there pcbTIM! hehe

Yes TR toured with The Mule as an acoustic opener and if you locate those shows, I understand TR guested on the encores almost every nite. I have the encores from the Fillmore show. TR said he did that almost every nite with them. Speaking of small worlds getting smaller. I am on tour with Chris Whitley right now and a guy showed up at our Nashville show and offered to build CW a pickup for his new National, as we have had a real hard TIMe locating one the proper size to fit under the strings. Anyway, Ronnie, the guy who offered, built guitars for the guys in The Mule and discoved CW opening for the Mule. He bacame a big fan of CW and came to our show and offered his services. He went home that nite and built a pick-up from scratch and brought it to us in Memphis the next nite. Unfortunately it didn't fit and he is now building a new, smaller, thinner one and will hopefully be shipping it to us in a week or so. On a similar sychronistic note, we arrived in New Orleans yesterday and discovered that friends of CW's were playing down the street. Angels of Light, featuring former members of the Swans. If you remember back to my thread about Burt from Fear Factory's new project, The Watchers, I mentioned that he was close to securing all the original members of The Swans as his back-up band for the project. Now I get to New Orleans and I am having dinner with the guys from the Swans via my affiliation with CW. Small world!! And if you remember even further back I once posted about the discovery that Fear Factory was one of TR's fave bands and that I actually knew the singer really freaked TR out. So they say the world is full of 6 degrees of seperation but I am beginning to believe it is much smaller.

I will sum it up.

I start working for TR. TR tells me one of his fave bands is Fear Factory. I know Burt from Fear Factory. TR tells me CW was a huge influence in his return to electric guitar. I tell TR I have been friends with CW for 10 years. CW calls and offers me a job as he has just signed to ATO Records(Dave Matthews label). TR has worked with Dave Matthews. I tour with CW and he tells me he is really good friends with the guys from The Swans. Burt has just told me a few days before I leave on tour with CW that he is flying to NYC to meet with the guys from the Swans as a possible backing band for his new project The Watchers. I leave on tour with CW and run into the members of the Swans in New Orleans with CW. I have a very small circle of people I work for but they all seem to be somehow cosmically connected. I think it's pretty kewl and a good omen. Tonite I will have drinks with the guys from The Swans and see what they decided about working with Burt. Small, small world I tell you.(Well at least mine seems to be HEHE)

i know oteil wouldn't do it, cause he's already got the allman brothers and his group the peacemakers, and vida blue, and frogwings, and if ARU ever came back...

Dave schools could probably become permanent, but he's still got widespread panic. I like dave schools, but i read an article he wrote recently that i found that i disagreed with about every point he made about bass playing...
Erich Posted - 04/18/2003 : 12:28:53 AM
dave schools is great.
thomasode Posted - 04/17/2003 : 11:32:45 PM
Dave Schools and Oteil Burbridge on the bass right now.
victorwootenfan Posted - 04/17/2003 : 8:59:31 PM
wow, i would've never guessed that TR played with Mule. I thought this thread was just a "wouldn't it be cool if.." kind of thought. That is really awesome that Tim has played with Gov. Mule.

On a side thought, any guesses on Mule's new bassist?
thomasode Posted - 04/17/2003 : 5:17:41 PM
Thanks alot. Damn I love Mule. Warren Haynes blows me away. I saw them last year with DMB and Warren comes out and plays 'Cortez the Killer'. Now that was an audio orgasm.

http://www.erichwithanh.com/tim/tour/1998.html

tim guested on those Mule shows listed, and i BELIEVE opened for them too but i am not sure in the slightest about that. most if not all of the mule shows were taped, so if tim opened a few of those should be floating as well, but i havent seen em.

i saw mule with Newsted (ex metallica), Lesard, and kid fucking rock (out of nowhere). they were jamming on sabbath tunes, fucking insane
