Posted - 04/12/2003 : 4:51:08 PM It was the most played tim song on the tour (7 out of 12 shows), and people knew it by name after the first few times. It was also played 4/3, which as most know seems to be a big candidate for release. Do you guys think it'll take over as the new "Stream", where people scream it in concert, say its their favourite song when they dont know any other songs by him (maybe other than Stream), and just become another cliche?
Obviously its a great tune, and there could be no hiding behind "oh, its not that good, check out...". What do you guys think? |

Posted - 04/13/2003 : 01:59:45 AM that 16 minute one was really 11 minutes, with a 5 minute repeat the question i think. from may '00, right? |

Posted - 04/13/2003 : 01:56:49 AM I don't think Kundalini will die, simply because it's always changing. And it's completely different every time. From the two minute version on GOTN, to a sixteen minute version I have from a live show, it's never the same. Certainly there is a set part to it, but most of it is improv, whereas Stream has more structure. I mean, if he started playing the 16 minute version, I'm sure people in the audience wouldn't realize it was Kundalini until about ten minutes into it. If they realized it at all. |

Posted - 04/13/2003 : 12:06:21 AM I really hope this song doesnt become the "next Stream", simply because its such a great live song, and I dont want Tim to stop playing it live. I mean people got so attached to Stream that when they went to a TR show they EXPECTED to hear Stream, and if they didnt the would be dissapointed. I think that Stream is a excellent song and it's too bad that Tim doesnt play it live anymore. I sure as hell dont want to see Kundalini die. |

Posted - 04/12/2003 : 8:41:30 PM I definitely hear what you're saying. When other people start to like songs that I kinda looked at as "my" song (so to speak), it really pisses me off. Doesn't change how I feel about it though. I think it's a fantastic song and I think that any Tim song that makes it onto a Tim+Dave release would become very popular because thousands of people that wouldn't necessarily buy a Tim CD are going to have the track right there in the middle of their "Dave" CD. |

Posted - 04/12/2003 : 5:13:59 PM It's one of my favorites, and I'm pretty familiar with all his work like most people on this message board. I'm guessing it's one of TIM's too, since he likes to play it a lot... I don't mind it being his next trademark song I guess. It's a good candidate. If that becomes the new song that people know TIM by, then at least it'll turn out to be one of my more favorite TR songs. |
