I guess this one goes out to Tim's crew, or anyone in the 'know', concernin' the behind the scenes action @ a TR show.

I was wonderin' if Tim does any warm up exercises before a show, to loosen up the digits that are about to reek armageddon on his axe(s) of choice for the evenin'.

Then remind me never to play his guitar.......

If you asked TR that question he would probably jokingly say, "I masturbate!"

Fluffy, I must have totally missed where you got your guitar.. What's the story on that...I guess I could follow the advice of Mr. Diplomacy and use the search feature...but what would I search for? "Fluffy" "guitar" "new" "TIM"? Ha, I'd get a thousand threads to sift thru...

So what's the story?

I was reading an article in Acoustic Guitar World the other day and I can't remember the musician but he said before every show he warms up by playing "Stairway to Heaven" I thought that was interesting

Watching TR nite after nite was definitely and influence. He makes it look so easy and effortless. Indeed it is not that way in real life. HEHE I am struggling thru and having fun with it, that is what really counts. I know I will never be TR but as long as I am having fun and enjoying what I am doing I will keep it up.

you da man, Fluffy.

Good to hear that your guitar playin' is comin' along. I say that you have the greatest inspiration, tourin' w/ Tim. Hell, after seein' him live, I wanted to quit my day job, join a band and start playin' music...but then I had to get up and go to work.

It was nice having his advice and opinion on buying the thing, but he really hasn't given any help since. We bought it the last day of the tour and most of my practicing has been since I returned to DC, so he has not been around to offer pointers. I am sure I will have questions for him when we start the next tour. I just didn't want anyone to get the wrong impression, like I was getting lessons from TR or something. It is pretty kewl to have him at your disposal for questions though. I am quite lucky in that regard.

I envy you Fluffy!

Damn Fluffy, that must be the most amazing thing having Tim available for a lesson or even just a few pointers every once in a while. I can't imagine a better way to learn to play.

Nope, no jamming. I am still just goofing around on it. I am having fun. It is really easy to make kewl sounds, especially with the tunings he set me up with. I am like a 3 year old just banging away on the thing. HEHE

Thanks for the reply, Fluffy. Interestin' how Mr. Reynolds does not warm up them digis before he goes on. I certainly can't tell...I feel I'm always gettin' the most at TR shows, as I see him givin' it his all.

Hate to cross post, but I was readin' a blurb on Michael Manring's warm up technique. Very interesting to say the least...even more interesting to see Michael warmin' up before a show. I once saw the audience in the Tractor Tavern in Ballard, give Michael a standing ovation (well it's standing room only in there anyway) for tuning his bass. Thought it was quite humorous at the time, but in retrospec...yeah, his tunin' in even bad ass.

Anyway, I was also wonderin' how your guitar playin' is comin' along, Fluffy. I recall awhile back, that you posted on the board that Mr. Reynolds helped you pick out an axe (acoustic, me thinks). Just wonderin' how that whole thing is comin' along. Do you and Mr. Reynolds jam? That must be awesome.

Still rainin',

mgodinez.

He doesn't do it on a regular schedule, he does it more by when he feels the strings need to be changed. That ends up being about every 3-5 days.

Y.... Yes we can except that as a warm up, IF done in a rhytmic pattern or mannor.

Just curious, how often does he change strings on each guitar?

Fluffy Posted - 06/16/2002 : 11:44:37 PM
Would you count writing the setlist as warm up finger excercises. He usually does that at dinner before the show.

Nope, not really. He usually just tunes the guitars before he heads out onstage. He usually changes strings when they need to be changed back at the hotel after the shows.
