Aside from the obvious answer that TR actually IS an alien, He lives in Santa Fe, NM and he sees unexplainable things (UFO's etc..) on a regular basis. He is also just a big fan of reading on the subject. When the mailing list first started, One of the first things Tim said to the fans was to read Pentegon Aliens by William Lyne. I'm sure there is some stuff about it in the interview section somewhere, you may want to browse throuh there a bit Sideburns.

Being that Tim's from another planet and all, I think he's trying to give props and/or relay messages to his alien brethren. Ever notice the alien face on the front of DMB's bus in the Red Rocks insert? Dude, it's a conspiracy!
