Ok, first thing's first. What the fuck happened to this board? Must be the energy crisis, maybe we ran out of gas or something. Anyway, to try and bring some life back into his hellhole, I am gonna try and steal a play from the other music board I frequent.

Would anyone here be interested in compiling a user made Tim Tribute album? Like, y'know, we could pick out Tim songs we liked, play them however the hell we like and throw them all together? I know there are players here, other than the PezzMan, we got nothing to show.

If anyone is interested just post here if you WILL be able to participate. Don't post some witty bullshit about how you can't play Tim's music. Just maybe a yeah, and the song (or songs) you'd like to attempt. I'll give it a bit of time and see what everyone thinks.

Thanks to anyone who's down. You're pretty awesome.

Hey, you guys do whatever the hell you want, when I get stuff, I'll make it happen.
GuitarGuy305 Posted - 11/29/2008 : 09:20:17 AM
I'm stilling plugging away on Bowl. I've gotten quite a bit finished with this long weekend.
JTR Posted - 11/29/2008 : 03:11:47 AM
Well, if there's some time before all the submissions are in, let me redo my take on Imaginary Time. I was listening to it, and the delay settings I had were a little too much and it's just throwing off everything.

Let's keep this project moving. I'm excited to hear everyone's takes on TR's pieces.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 11/22/2008 : 10:40:27 AM
No, Nick, you weren't.

I got 6 submissions total from 4 of you. I have 2 of my own, that doesn't exactly a tribute make, maybe if a few more people follow through with their recordings, I'll post the compilation...

So far: Impermanence, High in the West, Imaginary Time, You Are My Sanity, Souls, and To Touch Yearning have all been mailed to me. I'd like to get 4 more, and include my 2 to put it all together.
GuitarGuy305 Posted - 11/21/2008 : 6:08:15 PM
My Bowl of the Altar cover is about 75% finished...but I kind of stopped working on it, and other music projects, all together since other stuff kept coming up. I still want to finish it though.
Ranting Thespian Posted - 11/21/2008 : 5:38:22 PM
I think so. I might have been the only one to submit anything.
JTR Posted - 11/21/2008 : 3:34:18 PM
Did this project just peter out and die?
GuitarGuy305 Posted - 08/02/2008 : 6:27:17 PM
I'm working on mine with what time I get between school and work. Like I said in my email, laying down drums, guitars, vocals and bass has proved very time consuming, especially for a perfectionist like me. I'm happy with what I have so far though!
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 08/02/2008 : 3:40:37 PM
A few have emailed me some tracks, but I'm just gonna keep this open until everyone else gets their stuff in. Give me a couple days to get around to getting what I have leveled and arranged, and to all who have sent emails, I will respond soon. Thanks to everyone who's mailed their cuts, and to those who hope to have them in, pronto!

What do you mean put it up? Just mail it to me.

It also seems that no one really has the time or has put forth the effort to get this done by July 1st, so I'll move it up to August 1st in the hope that we can really do something special here that Tim will appreciate.

AUGUST 1st! Let's do it.
Ranting Thespian Posted - 06/21/2008 : 11:43:13 PM
Ok, I have the recording, I will be putting it up tomorrow.

I am back from vacation and feeling better. Expect it in the next day or two.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 06/11/2008 : 6:11:07 PM
I don't give a shit, really, as long as I have recordings submitted to me by July 1st if possible. Email me if there is a problem with that date.
Ranting Thespian Posted - 06/11/2008 : 1:19:20 PM
sorry for not having the recording ready. I have been VERY ill lately. I am just finally feeling better, but I am going on vacation tomorrow. I won't be able to record till next week, but it will be done!
zenhas6strings Posted - 06/09/2008 : 1:46:08 PM
sorry everyone for holding this up.i don't get a lot of time to play online...usually i spend most of it checking email that builds up.this has been a really busy time of year for me.

Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 06/06/2008 : 8:05:35 PM
Yeah, but there a still a few people who posted that have yet to email me, (namely: Dan P, zenhas6strings, and scottreynolds) so we'll see. Tentatively, July 1st though for now.
GuitarGuy305 Posted - 06/06/2008 : 08:34:51 AM
So is the deadline July 1st for this now? I'm not sure if I can make the 15th since I have a lot going on with work and school.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/27/2008 : 6:39:49 PM
Good, Nick.

If anyone had designs on doing mutliple tracks, let me know, maybe we can eek out a 2 disc...we got 2 You Are My Sanitys, maybe 3. AHAHA Rules that one out for me. Though, I think I may stick with unreleased tracks. Except for Decline in Reason...or Dissident. AHAHA
Ranting Thespian Posted - 05/26/2008 : 10:19:21 PM
I will be recording To Touch Yearning in a day or two, then I will send it right away.
Spence17 Posted - 05/26/2008 : 1:21:14 PM
I'll do You Are My Sanity.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/25/2008 : 10:19:53 PM
Yeah, this would be dope. C'mon now. You know who you are! AHAHA
GuitarGuy305 Posted - 05/25/2008 : 10:15:13 AM
I really hope this idea doesn't get abandoned. I've been plugging away on my cover of BotA.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/24/2008 : 10:02:14 PM
I'll extend the deadline to July 1st if it'll get the people who posted before but didn't email me to get in on this. C'mon folks.

Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/19/2008 : 7:00:38 PM
Only 4 emails total, if I don't start hearing back soon, you're all obviously pieces of sh*t. Now you posted you'd contribute, let me see those emails!!!
GuitarGuy305 Posted - 05/18/2008 : 7:22:59 PM
I really hope more people email. I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's contributions and getting feedback on mine.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/18/2008 : 3:07:56 PM
Cmon, people...
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/16/2008 : 4:22:38 PM
I've only received 3 emails so far, I'd appreciate it if everyone else who has posted thus far follow suit. Let's make this happen, people!
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/12/2008 : 7:15:58 PM
K, guys. I'll set the deadline as Sunday, June 15 to have all entries either emailed, sendspaced, yousendit-ed, or what the hell ever to me.

I'll thank in advance everyone participating, and remember: HAVE FUN WITH IT. Tim will for sure hear this, so put your hearts and souls into it.

I'd like everyone who's doing a track just to send me a simple email ASAP with their board name and what song(s) they will be submitting.

scottreynolds Posted - 05/08/2008 : 11:24:35 AM
nice video, i've only really seen him do that song a handful of times live, if that. can't wait to hear everyones inclusions on this project. i also had the idea of getting my hard rock band im in here in st. louis to do indoctrinate too. so many choices, i may stay with century though. thanks for the welcome to the board
gnome44 Posted - 05/07/2008 : 10:45:25 PM
Tim doesn't get too much better than that. He was definitely channeling Joe Pass that night!

What a genius...
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/07/2008 : 9:28:55 PM
Check out this performance of Century Sister I recorded from Mexicali Blues. I requested it, of course.

Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/07/2008 : 8:43:15 PM
Wow, nice. Welcome aBOARD, Scott. Great to have you. Tim showed me a couple bits of Metamorphosis after the show he did at my place, but I was fairly gone at that point. Learned a lot from my countless Tim DVDs and seeing him live.

So I'll put together a tentative setlist and get a deadline set in the next day or 2. Thanks a lot guys, this is gonna be sweet!

Dan, Rheginos would be dope as I think Nick's only TR cover is To Touch Yearning.

Start practicing everyone! Details soon!
scottreynolds Posted - 05/07/2008 : 8:16:50 PM
alright, done, i shall see if my buddys available over the weekend and throw down some century sister!!
dan p. Posted - 05/07/2008 : 4:54:43 PM
well that's. . .fucking rad.

if you don't want two tty's, i can probably do something else. rheginos, maybe.
Batstone Posted - 05/07/2008 : 4:24:11 PM
wow.. i would love to hear you do century Sister
scottreynolds Posted - 05/07/2008 : 12:07:25 PM
hey all, new to the board, im actually tim's nephew so some of the songs he's taught me personally (not that i can touch most of 'em!) but i love the idea here with the different tributes. i've had the same idea and would be willing to throw in something. my first thoughts are maybe the band versions of "over it" or "leelines". maybe even 'century sister' or 'smile'. I play(ed) in a dave matthews tribute band and basically i play my uncle's parts in the band so i picked up on a lot of things. let me know, and its cool to FINALLY be on here. peace
Kevin Posted - 05/07/2008 : 02:07:04 AM
I'm working on trying to do a full band cover of an acoustic song; maybe You Are My Sanity, if no one gets to it first

If anyone needs drum or bass parts, drop me a line and I'll hook it up. I can do programmed drums and regular acoustic as well.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/07/2008 : 12:59:47 AM
I hope you contribute...fukkin' seriously! ONE MORE! C'mon nah!

Sounds great...pick your 2 faves, Zen. That may give me an excuse to do 2 myself! This is filling out nicely. Maybe one more member?!
zenhas6strings Posted - 05/02/2008 : 1:43:53 PM
sup everyone....i may be able to drop a few tunes.Vantage point(my personal fav.)
i can play i few others with the same in mind...just trying to imitate this stuff is all the justice i can do them.

but i am decent at Valley of Flowers,High in the West,Is Anybody Here,As Far As We can See,Torch of Uncertainty,Turn it into Love,....and a few others.if there is anything i can add ,please let me know how i can.

Tim is the greatest guitar player i have ever witnessed.so i have been trying to learn as much of his shit as i can, in hopes that it will only help my playing ability, even if i can never meet his skill level.i love the challenge.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 05/01/2008 : 5:49:43 PM
Taking the time to learn them is justice, Dan. We'd definitely like to hear a contribution from you...the more improv the better. The beauty of Tim's music is, with a lot of it, you can go wherever the hell you want.

That is 2 To Touch Yearning's tho, if you can think of another one great, if not, 2 TTY's it is. Variations acceptable!

Let's try and get one more here! You guitar players know who you is!
dan p. Posted - 05/01/2008 : 03:11:48 AM
i'd offer to do something like to touch yearning, although i'm still not 100% ok with covering tim reynolds songs, simply because i always fail to do them proper justice.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 04/30/2008 : 9:49:49 PM
Sa-weet, one more, and I'll set up a tentative setlist and a deadline. This will be dope. Though, there are a few members obviously missing here...AHEM!
chris Posted - 04/30/2008 : 6:00:04 PM
i can do che or and then they were free. also is anybody here if my fingers grew an inch or 2.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 04/25/2008 : 06:36:19 AM
Good shit, let's just get a couple more, and I'll set up a deadline and all that crapola.
GuitarGuy305 Posted - 04/23/2008 : 6:14:32 PM
I think I'll take the more electric route. Maybe I'll lay down a cover of Bowl of the Alter or Beneath the Surface. Of course, my own cover of Skeleton Walls would be an excuse to finally buy that 7 string.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 04/18/2008 : 10:01:51 PM
Yeah, only YAMS if you plan on doing a ripping good improv...in 'Bm: the saddest of all keys.' Something crazy would be good too! Try 'Frantic.' AHAHA I'll def honor multiple entries though! We know you got skillz, JTR.
JTR Posted - 04/17/2008 : 10:51:57 PM
I need to ponder what I can attempt to degurgitate that hasn't been claimed. YAMS maybe. It'd be fun to do something weird.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 04/17/2008 : 9:35:04 PM
I dunno, I sat down for about 45 minutes and ran through some shit, I may do a medley. TR did High In The West>Arroyo>Letting Go at my house, which was stunning, some of his songs blend so well. Kottke style.

Let's get a few more!
dirtysloth Posted - 04/17/2008 : 1:30:26 PM
Cool idea Jared. Not an incredibly technical song, but it's always just about been my favorite - Souls - I've been thinking about doing my own version of that one anyway.
gnome44 Posted - 04/15/2008 : 11:24:55 PM
I'll do Fluorescence.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 04/15/2008 : 9:05:29 PM
Good one, Adam, sure. Once I get enough people signed up, I'll set up a deadline or whatever. I am gonna try for the one take method I think. AHAHA

I can do one Tim song, To Touch Yearning. Just let me do that one, because it's all I can do.
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 04/13/2008 : 5:25:07 PM
Sure, or feel free to work one out for yourself.
EnlightenThis Posted - 04/13/2008 : 4:47:43 PM
Great Idea Hopeful. I'll start looking over the tabs that you have posted. Any ideas for a good song to start with? Obviously, I completely agree with Silky in that I'm not worthy to lick the dirt off his boots. I could SHINE them, but I am not worthy...I am not worthy.....
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 04/13/2008 : 2:22:06 PM
Silky, we all know you got skillz, thanks for responding! Letting Go is a fave of mine too, I'll have to email you my top TR rendition...I forget the date curretly.

Anyway, the point it is doesnt have to be perfect, just to show everyone how much Tim's music means to us.I'd like to get at least 8 different renditions, but preferably 10, so if anyone wanted to do 2 that'd be cool, and if not, if it's OK with Pezzman, I'd like to use a couple of the wonderful TR renditions he's done for us.

Post on! I'll surely do one myself, but I'd like to see what everyone else chooses, it may make me learn a new one! (Though I'll probably do 'Hug'...teehee)
Silky The Pimp Posted - 04/13/2008 : 1:01:40 PM
Even after 13 years of playing I'm still not good enough to even lick the dirt off of TR's boots... but I'd throw my cards in for Letting Go... my favorite song-- ever.
