So I've been listening to this song for a pretty long time, trying to figure it out in my head...finally yesterday I sat down and actually learned it. There's a tab from someone else on here, but it sounds a bit different than what I've seen Tim play acoustic. Anyways, here's what I've come up with:

BETRAYAL (DROP D)
Transcribed by Kevin Wyman

Verse:
e:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
b:|--------------------3------3-------------------------------3-----
G:|--4/5\4p2p0---0---0------2---------0-----------------------2-----
D:|------------3---2----2-0-----2---2-----3-3--3--5--/7-5-3-0-0-----
A:|-------------------------------3-----3-3-3--3--5--/7-5-3-0-0-----
D:|---------------------------------------3-3--3--5--/7-5-3-0-0-----

Verse Variation:
e:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
b:|-------------------------3-------3-------------------------------
G:|--4b(HOLD)-4p2p0---0---0-------2---------0-----------------------
D:|-----------------3---2-----2-0-----2---2---------3-----2---0-----
A:|-------------------------------------3-----3---3-----2-----0-----
D:|---------------------------------------------3-----2-----0-0-----
(cont.)
e:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
b:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
G:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
D:|------3-----2---5------------------------------------------------
A:|----3-----2-----5------------------------------------------------
D:|--3-----2-----5-5------------------------------------------------

Next Part:
e:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
b:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
G:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
D:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
A:|--3--2~-----------0---3--2~----------0---------------------------
D:|---------0-3-0-2--0---------0-3-0-5--0---------------------------
...AFTER HE PLAYS THAT FOUR TIMES, TIM PLAYS THE SAME THING AGAIN FOUR
TIMES, BUT HE ADDS AN OPEN D STRING (4TH STRING) AFTER EVERY NOTE.
I'M NOT TABBING IT, BUT LISTEN TO THE SONG AND YOU CAN FIGURE IT OUT;
JUST STRUM FASTER :D AFTER THE FAST PART HE LANDS ON A (G5) AND HOLDS
FOR A MEASURE AND THAN THE SAME WITH A (D5).

Next Part:
e:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
b:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
G:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
D:|-------------------------------5--3^--------(REPEAT 4X)----------
A:|----------5--3~-5---------5--3-------5--3^-----------------------
D:|--0-5-0-3---------0-5-0-3----------------------------------------
(...faster...)
e:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
b:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
G:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
D:|--------------------------------------------------5-3------------
A:|----------5-3---------7-5---------5-3---------5-3----------------
D:|--0-5-0-3-----0-5-0-3-----0-5-0-3-----0-5-0-3--------------------

Than there's the flamenco part, which I haven't even tried yet. I'm planning on playing this out tonight, so I figured I'd just worry about these main parts, and than go into Kashmir or something fun. Anyways, I'm pretty much positive this is right. Only part that I'm not sure on is the very first note of the first part. It's either a slide or a bend, however I'm leaning towards a slide; sounds better to me :) Have fun!

I thought that myself when I was first learning Betrayal, but now that I play it 0-5-3 it feels/sounds right that way. Tim plays it so fast, who can really be sure?

Life has been handle-able. Yeah, definitely been playing a bit of guitar to try and butch up for the TR Camp next month. Still basically just listen to TR and Kottke when I want some acoustic geet, but you should definitely check out Clive Carroll. He's the best guitar player I have ever seen or heard.

No tabs, though I been playing Hug a lot, I should tab that out for the board.

ha for sure.

Hows life man, still playing a lot of tim i see. Working on any tabs lately? Listening to any new acoustic artists?

this isen't the right forum but who cares aha,
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 02/18/2009 : 1:07:46 PM
You should, man. It would be cool as hell to hear that.

Drew Posted - 07/30/2007 : 12:26:35 AM

d:--2--2--5--5------2----chord-----------
a:-----3--x--3------------here-----------
E:--------5--3---------------------------

im not sure about the 5x53 thing either but it sounds close and i think the c bar chord is right but i dont know and then theres some chord between the 122 and 132 that i cant figure out.

hey Kevin, very awesome tab, I've learned as much as you've tabbed so far, and it is a slide in the first note, but he doesn't do the 4/5\4 right away, and he picks an additional

------
------
------
--3---
-3----
3--3--

before sliding from the 3's to 5's, i refined the tab a bit

e:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
b:|--------------------3------3-------------------------------3-----
G:|----5\4p2p0---0---0------2---2-----2-----------------------2-----
D:|------------3---2----2-0---------0----------3----3/5-5-3-0-0--X2-
A:|-------------------------------3-----3----3------3/5-5-3-0-0-----
D:|----------------------------------------3-----3--3/5-5-3-0-0-----

e:|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b:|--------------------3------3----------------------------3----------------------------------------3-
G:|----5\4p2p0---0---0------2---2-----2--------------------2----------------------------------------2-
D:|------------3---2----2-0---------0-----------3------2---0------3-----2-------5-x------3------2---0-
A:|-------------------------------3-----3-----3------2-----0----3-----2-------5---x----3------2-----0-
D:|-----------------------------------------3------2-----0-0--3-----2-----3/5-----x--3------2-----0-0-

e:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
b:|--------------------3------3-------------------------------3-----
G:|--4/5\4p2p0---0---0------2---2-----2-----------------------2-----
D:|------------3---2----2-0---------0----------3----3/5-5-3-0-0-X2--
A:|-------------------------------3-----3----3------3/5-5-3-0-0-----
D:|----------------------------------------3-----3--3/5-5-3-0-0-----

e:|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b:|--------------------3------3----------------------------3----------------------------------------3-
G:|-----4bp2p0---0---0------2---2-----2--------------------2----------------------------------------2-
D:|------------3---2----2-0---------0-----------3------2---0------3-----2-------5-x------3------2---0-
A:|-------------------------------3-----3-----3------2-----0----3-----2-------5---x----3------2-----0-
D:|-----------------------------------------3------2-----0-0--3-----2-----3/5-----x--3------2-----0-0-

e:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
b:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
G:|-----------------------------------------------------------------
D:|----------------------------------5------------------X2----------
A:|--3--2~-----------0---3--2~-------5--0---------------------------
D:|---------0-3-0-2--0---------0-3-0-5--0---------------------------

A:|-3---2-2-2-------------3-3-2-2-2-------------3-3-2-2-2-------------3-3-2-2-2-------5----0--3--0-
D:|-----------3-3-2-2-0-0-----------3-3-5-5-0-0-----------3-3-2-2-0-0-----------3-3-0-5----0--3--0-

now for my question, can you pretty please tab out the chords he plays with the flamenco part? So far I have:

E:-------------------------------------------------------------------------
B:-1--1--------------------------------------------------------------------
G:-2--2--3-----------------------------------------------------------------
D:-2--3--5-----------------------------------------------------------------
A:-0--0--x-----------------------------------------------------------------
D:-------5-----------------------------------------------------------------

not sure of the third one

Kevin Posted - 05/08/2007 : 5:04:47 PM
No worries i learned a lot from tabs from people in this communitiy so it's only fair for me to give back. I'll tab out that part as soon as i learn it. Glad you enjoyed it.
Drew Posted - 05/07/2007 : 4:13:40 PM
Thanks so much ive been trying to play this but couldnt find a good tab. this one sounds great. good job.
