Posted - 10/25/2005 : 11:08:21 PM Ive actually been playing a "Simon & Patrick" for the past year, surpisingly enough i really like it. It's the SP-6 model. Not as costly but a decent sound none-the-less. Much enjoyed! |

Posted - 10/25/2005 : 7:39:49 PM yeah martins and taylors.. the debate will never end. I am a taylor guy because they are generally brighter, and when you play harmonics, they ring so crisply. It just depends on what you want. My taylor 214e has the prefix pickup with the built-in microphone blender. Ya can't get a much more natural sound than that for direct line recording. |

Posted - 10/25/2005 : 5:04:43 PM I find guitars are much like cars, youre either a ford guy or a dodge guy...a Martin guy or a Taylor guy. Dont get me wrong, there are some amazing Taylors out there, but im a Martin Co. guy for sure. |

Agreed. I've owned 3 Martin's and have loved them all. It's a great investment. However, I do find myself wanting a Taylor 412ce. My house got broken into this time last year and I lost some gear but my 2 main axes survived. Sadly, the Gibson Les Paul did not make it. |

Posted - 10/21/2005 : 12:08:27 AM last message got cut off: I meant to say (to batstone) that listening to McLaughlin helped me refine my tapping technique. and it might give you some new ideas to play around with. |

Posted - 10/21/2005 : 12:04:51 AM Cool stuff. I'd recommend checking out the following songs by Billy McLaughlin:
Clockshop Helms Place Hold on to Forever
they should provide some inspirational tap-style playing |
