Well I've been playing guitar for little while now and I was wondering your guys opinions on Acoustic guitar pickups for dreadnought size guitar. and thoughts on a small amp
I'm kinda really on a budget no more then $150 on the pickup

Finally does anyone know what pickups Tim use In his guitars? (like his Martins)

I have a Prefix Plus blender system in my Taylor 214e, and it sounds too good to be true coming out of a PA. I can choose how much saddle piezo I want blended with the microphone sensor pickup, so I get that natural microphone quality while controlling for feedback.
It is a bit higher than your stated budget, but it might be worth saving up a little while and going for one of these hot systems. It is made by Fishman. I have only seen it in Taylor models, but I know that it is sold separately as a pickup system as well.

I was also looking at LR Baggs pickups along with Fishman
and I'm looking at an Under the saddle (for the most part unless I find something else)
my two choices i was looking at
Fishman Acoustic Matrix II

LR Baggs Element
http://www.lrbaggs.com/html/products/systems_element.shtml

still open to any other opinions, thx for the replys

and also the 2nd part was a different question then the first part

Anything by Fishman is quality...for martins i would use fishman because martin and fishman go together like white and rice

The Fishman Rare Earth is right in that range, that's what I use currently, it's good quality for the price ~$160. It's been used by the likes of Thom Yorke and John Mayer...guys who know what they want their guitars to sound like.

From what I've heard, perhaps a straightforward Fishman pickup may be the way to go?
