Written by Tim Reynolds

Tabbed by Jared Susney from 10/10/01

Tuning: Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (12-string guitar)

Note: Don't bust my balls if this isn't 100%, it's pretty damn close. I don't see you tabbing it out.

Can I get this to the tab page please for the love of God?
Batstone Posted - 04/20/2005 : 1:46:26 PM
yeah, i play the open A too actully
Kevin Posted - 04/07/2005 : 7:33:58 PM
I really like this tab...only thing is I use an open A for the first chord of the verse rather than a C#...the rest of the song has that A-E progression, so I kinda think it fits better than a C# bass note. Granted, I haven't listened to the song and played at the same time, so I'm not sure which is actually how Tim plays it. Fuckin great tab either way man :-)

Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 04/01/2005 : 4:48:34 PM
Has anyone tried this out, I am curious to get feedback.

I just replaced a note that was wrong on the first verse line.

I am glad all of us came out of the woodwork for a tab thread. Thanks for the back-up, Silky. Anyway, I did note on the tab that I play that part slightly differently, and I'm sure if someone did play it exactly right, they'd email me, and I'd fix it. Again, it's just my improvement on what was out there.

For instance, on the Tab section on this website, one tabber had tabbed out half of Tim's stuff in diads. Now does that seem logical for Tim to play 3 minutes of diads? I'd hope not; but they were posted in the Tablature section. Just like Tim says: "Try a little harder, in case it's not HARD enough."

Those emoticons really help the mood, eh?

I removed the offending clause "Whatever." from the tab as well. Just for you, Dan.

yeah, i mean, don't get me wrong, it's a challenging piece, and there's something to be said for working parts of it out. i'm just a little confused as to why you put up something you know to be wrong. why not just put up everything you know to be right, leave the wrong parts out. say, "i don't know this part" and then you don't have to defend yourself of disclaimers. you or someone else will work out that part, and then we'll all have a tab that's as accurate as tab can be. i know tab doesn't show rhythm in general, that's why it can never be really right. it's not your fault. it's the notation system itself with the huge, unignorable flaw.

i think you'll find that if you really want to offend me, it pretty much has to be something in music. you can talk about my beliefs, my mom, my intellegence or whatever. i know my faults, so it doesn't bother me if someone brings it up. but music? that shit is sacred.

LAMBAST'D. hahaha. i admire your even-handedness in the face of absurd tirades.

Count me impressed. That's some damn good work HRW. Now I'll have to practice and get better before I even attempt to play that tab!

Once again, Dan, I admire your fervor; but it's not that I don't care, it's that I'm not Tim Reynolds. I'm just trying to help the community get some joy out of their own playing. And if I've offended YOU, then my job is done.

You're right though, about the rhythm and everything. I figure if you know the song well enough, the rhythm is innate within you. To my defense, guitar tab in general doesn't include rhythmic notation.

I just put up numbers, I've seen tabs for this that are just way off, this one's just a little closer, and it's one of faves to play. Besides, there's always a moment of joy when you find a tab that is SOMEWHAT close to the actually played version. Sadly enough, if it weren't for a few bold tabbers out there, I wouldn't be the guitar player I am today. Those of us who teach ourselves find this garbage useful.

Thanks for the lambasting.

this might be one of my all time favorite songs anyone has ever done.

all in all it's a decent job. as decent as a tab can be, anyway. the song's terribly difficult to play. it's not something i would attempt in public. i shudder to think those big tab sites might have for it.

i've always been of a mind that if you do post a tab and it isn't 100% right, then anyone can bust your balls. it's open season on your balls. don't like it? then don't put it up until it is 100% right. why post something you know isn't right? i find a lot of tabbers have this same ridiculous attitude, and they say the same things. firstly, you can never be "accurate" because it doesn't show the any note's exact relation to pulse and meter. but let's just put that aside, for argument's sake. admitting you know it's wrong doesn't make it ok. it's still wrong. you're still misrepresenting the work. i find that "fine. whatever." attitude offensive. it implies you care neither about the piece nor your audience. and thirdly, you don't see anyone else tabbing it either is because, like you, we haven't gotten it all worked out yet and prefer to, you know, give people the right information.

not all of this applies to this guy, but just in general it reminded me. it's impressive getting that much. bold choice.
