Hey hey...just a quick question as to Tim's RH technique in Hopeful Heresy.

On this part:

e---------------------------------------------------
B-------3----3-X---3----3--3/5-----1-X----1-------3-
G---2p0------0-X---0----0--0-------2-X----2---2p0---
D--------------X---------------------X--------------
A------------2-X---2---------------3-X----3---------
E---------3------3----3---------1------1------------

when he slides 3/5, what does he do with his RH? On a few D&T recordings I've heard, he hits that D (3rd fret) three times pretty fast, and on the third attack he slides. I can't really tell if he's got a really really fast plucking finger, or if he uses two/three fingers like a bassist would, or if he uses his thumb in there once or twice. The thumb seems easiest for me because I play a lot of bass, but I'm having trouble keeping the volume and tone similar with the rest of the notes.

I hope that makes sense; if no one gets what I said I can re-explain it lol...thanks guys!

I actually have a few versions of that where hit hits that note multiple times, and Silky is right, he just does a trill with his index and middle fingers. Woohoo.

I listened to it again, and he only hits it twice, and it isn't really all that fast. You can do it pretty easy with I and M Thanks for your reply

If you've ever watched him play, he uses all of those techniques at some point... my guess at having seen him do it enough times, is if it were just a couple of notes (such as repeating the D you mentioned) he likely just used his index and birdie fingers alternately.
