What's the difference between the Ernie Ball VP JR. Passive Volume Pedal and the Mono Volume Pedal that Tim uses? Both have the tuner feature. What exactly does passive mean and would it be better for my acoustic setup?

I'm looking to run this:
Taylor 310ce -> Volume Pedal (Tuner to TU-2 Tuner) -> DD6 -> RC-20 Loopstation -> Radial J48 DI
