it seems to me tabs don't come out that fast, not as fast as they use to when the site first started up. It's hard to find the time to tab. But I was thinking that if you guys can play tim's stuff then you can tab most likely, if you don't think you have an ear it just takes time and you aquire it. ANYWAY, the point of this post:

would you guys be interested in making colaboration tabs? Working together to make nice tabs and build up the collection in the archive. There are so many songs that are yet to have been attempted and many that suck, but I guess that's my fault.

if any of you are interested post and we'll get this thing flowin in one way or another.

nah, its all good. I like making my site bigger anyway, I want it to be sort of definative without it trying to copy tr.com, and thats kind of hard.

Maybe you should do what I've seen other tab sites do: make the song title the first tab, then place a number 2 next to it for the second, etc.

But other than that, it looks excellent!

youve got a point. the reason i thought putting the numbers there was to give room for multiple tabs on one song, in case of seperate versions or different approaches to the songs, but i guess then its best to append it to the same file? what do you think?

Looks good. However, I think you should change the number thing to clicking on the name of the tab. It's just that when you add a bunch more tabs, it'll be hard to distinguish which tab is for which song.

Sounds great. Here was that thread from a while back that had a bunch of new tabs in it so you don't have to go searching.

hey, do you guys want me to add a tabs section to my page? If you say yes, i'll get it started and then everyone here can be in charge of keeping it going since i dont tab. I can update as often as you want though, since tr.com is not the best at updatingthat section

while that is in fact an extraordinary name, in saying it, i would continually get tongue tied and call it the "TR Tabsk Force." but i don't forsee my contributing anything to this project anyway (lack of skill, not desire), so i guess what i might accidentally call it isn't important.

good luck to everyone that's tabbing. hope it works out well, and i'll be interested to see some of your work.

You're probably right about everyone doing an entire song being redundant. As long as everyone can review the other parts and make suggestions there's really no point.
We must work out those fast ascending chords in Turn it into Love, that is my ultimate goal. But it can wait, if there's other stuff to tab.

We could be the TR Tab Force. That's just the first thing that came to mind though, it's a little weak.

That really does sound like a good system... assuming that nobody else is jumping out of their heads to lead this, I'll see what I can come up with as far as setting up a very rudimentary website for that purpose on one of the free web-hosting sites... that is, if you all think it needs a website. I think we could all make do with a mailing list, but I don't mind setting up a site if everyone wants one. For now, everyone that wants to do this, send me your email addresses and let me know who you are. The best way that I can think of to do this will be for each person to have a section of a song to work on, rather than everyone doing the entire song; that would seem redundant to me. So once we choose a song to tab, I'll "assign" each person on the list a section of that song to tab out. Once all the parts get back in to me, I'll send the sume of the parts back out via email, or post them on the website (which we may or may not need) for all of us to view, and we can all do some "proofreading" of each others' work. I think we should be able to knock out some great tabs that way. Oh, and the first rule of tab fight club, YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT TAB FIGHT CLUB. Er, I mean... I think we should set a ground rule that there's no tabbing without video. That's essential to good tabs as it takes a lot of the guess work out of things... so I don't think any of us should try to do without. Anyway, I'm sitting in a lab right now not working on something that I'm supposed to be working on, so we can knock out more details as they come up. For now, just send me your info and someone choose a song and we'll get this rolling. Coo?

Great suggestion Dave, though I think the mp3 thing isn't really necessary. I think trying to get that coordinated would just set this thing back another year... Probably the simpler the better to get people going on it, but the mailing list is a good idea to get people making the commitment.
I am in full support, but I don't have the skill to organize something like this. Anyone out there willing?

Last I checked, all the plugins from the old winamp weren't available for the newest version, but that was about 2 months ago. I reverted back to winamp 2 for that reason, so I could continue to use my plugins until they're all out for winamp 3. If you go to the winamp site and get to the winamp 2 part (assuming you still have it), you can still download pacemaker. I've been using that forever... it's pretty key for accurate tabbing if you ask me. Also, if you're getting any plugins, be sure to also download Enhancer. As the name would suggest, it enhances the sound that winamp puts out. That's the main reason I went back to the old version, winamp sounds like ass without that plugin.

Question for Nate on the winamp pace maker. Where in the dsp/effects is the looper and pace maker? There is only 10 component downloads and none of them are it. Perhaps I am just slow... sorry if it sounds like a dumb Q but hey thanks anyway.....

I would love to contribute what I can to this project. If we actually want this to get off the ground, we need to give it a form - so here's my 2 cents on that.

Every couple of weeks, a new song would be chosen by whoever is leading the group at the time. An mp3 would then be made available either here or on someone's personal web space for all tabbers to grab, and work would begin...succesfully tabbed sections could be emailed to the ring leader who would then post them on a seperate site for everyone else who is involved to compare to their own work. A mailing list would probably be needed to coordinate this effort effectively.

it's totally cool with me if someone were to improve upon a tab I did, in fact I have always indorsed it. But no matter who did the tab it's always nice to give them a little credit for atleast starting it whoever that may be. like if we get this going good I assume we could just list each and every name that added or contributed to the tab in anyway, whether it be a measure or half the song.

I'm definitely in on this one. I have several tabs of songs on the tab section of the site that I've improved on. We have to also keep in mind that one of the main issues I and my friends are having with tabs that we find is that they are SO HARD TO READ and very sloppy. Take pride in the tabs and make them legible!

Where do we send these tabs though?!?!

hey guys. ok, i think this collaboration deal could work quiet well, i've used many of the basic tabs on the site to get me started on stuff, and with the help of the videos i've got a few songs completely tabbed out (excluding the improv jam stuff) and many more partially completed but what i have is absolutely correct. so if the everyone's cool with letting other people borrow off their tabs, i'd be glad to contribute what i've got. i couldl use some help on metamorphosis--it's a tough one ;)

bad ass, glad to see people are down for this. there's also a program called slow gold that slows down the song. anyway, I'm game for any song. one that's bad ass is Tim's cover of "Come together" I got it off the ftp here, see's really really really tough though. but what's the most desired as off now?

I'll try to help out where ever possible. Check out the "Anyone have the ENTIRE tab to Entity?". I think I did an OK job at it. It is normal tuning and it would be could if my tab was posted in the tab section.

the thing you can slow songs down with is called pacemaker, its a winamp dsp/effect plug-in you can download at http://winamp.com. you can also download a looping plug-in so you dont have to keep starting the hard parts over.

hey mark, i saw some thing on dmbtabs.com about some program you can download that slows down an mp3 or wav file so you can hear each note that is played during a song. someone had posted tims part on #41 and said he was able to do it using this program, wait, i think it was someone on this board that said that, i can't remember, but i'll try to find it and let ya'll know.

That is a great idea, I'm definitely in on this. I've actually been casually working on Imaginary Time, so I have a general attempt, maybe you guys are interested in looking a bit more deeply at it.

i would love to try to help with tabbing some of tims stuff. i'll go ahead and let you know that i'm not the best tabber but i realize that most of the songs tabbed were tabbed by you. we would have to be listening to the same recording of a song b/c as you well know, tim's stuff chances every night. as i said i would be interested in trying to figure out some new stuff.
