Jon if you ever get around to it, you might as well replace the old/less accurate ones in the tablature section so that people that don't come to the message board can still have the most accurate stuff. -J

I think writing and creativity is the most important thing in life itself. how long have you been playing? I have been playing for almost 8 years now i think, no no wait, 7 years cuz im 18 now. whatever, lol anyway...ive been writing since I started, I have so many songs, a handful have been written for other artists since I have the same problem, I CANT SING:(, all well maybe one day. My composition library has got pretty large now, especially including the unfinished works. Im just copyrighting them and sending out demos and stuff, who kows what will happen... I used to be in a band called Futureboy http://www.futureboyhq.com and we played a bunch of shows in NY and stuff, now im concentrating on my solo stuff and just writing...im moving to los angeles in august or september so hopefully something will happen out there...
well i already forgot what i was talking about and im just giving you my life story lol sorry you might be better off watching full house hehe

Posted - 04/24/2002 : 08:45:13 AM Is that what you would consider "practice" or are you just playing around? I can't seem to find what to practice for that long, then I just get bored or frustrated and stop after about 45 minutes.
Which reminds me...Silky you once mentioned sending some practicing tips my way...you still up to do that? I'd really really like to be a better player, but everything I seem to practice doesn't really lead me in that direction.
Any suggestions?

I'm exactly the same way. I can't seem to write out lyrics any better than basic rhymes and it gets really frustrating. I just keep waiting for my muse.

I wondered this just today. How much do you all play? How long can you go without playing your guitar?
I don't really understand the first question....is it per day?....cuz I could play for like 4-5 hourse straight. I can probably go indefinitely without playing the guitar....but I wouldn't like it very much.

Posted - 04/24/2002 : 12:28:16 AM I'm from Atlanta... my musical project right now is just to enjoy playing. For whatever reason, I cannot sing and play at the same time, so that kinda limits me to things such as solo guitar. I've been doing a decent amount of writing recently and I'm starting to build a small library of original work, piece by piece. And to answer your question, I play much more than I write... I play much more than I do anything. -J

Posted - 04/22/2002 : 7:06:45 PM Unfortunately I don't have a video of that song and I fear that may just be a little too hard to get with any great accuracy by ear using just my 6 string. I'd be happy to do it if you can somehow hook me up with a video though. -J

Posted - 04/20/2002 : 8:30:10 PM You're welcome Silky. The appreciation is well deserved. I feel the same way about getting every note in a tab. My problem is I'm not good enough at picking out the notes so I get frustrated too easily, and give up.

Posted - 04/18/2002 : 6:25:04 PM Thanks Jamie, that means a lot to me. For whatever reason, I just cannot stand inaccurate tabs, so I guess that's what motivates me to be so pathologically detail oriented when I decide to do it myself. I generally go on a note by note basis, and figure things out based on each individual note being played, rather than trying to figure out a chord or an entire riff at once, that way I don't leave anything out. Needless to say, that means listening to some passages 40-50 times before I get it just right. As if that weren't pathological enough, after I figure out a passage, I play it in front of a mirror to make sure that my hands are in exactly the same position as TR's. So yeah, I'm a freak when it comes to the guitar, but the fact that you appreciate it makes me feel really good. Thanks again. -J

Before I saw a video I tabbed out some crazy shit that sounded right on the 6 string... it should be in the version of VOF in the tab section, but it's not what he plays. What I put above is what I got off of watching TR play it, and I tried it out on a 12 string and it sounded great, so I can say with near certainty that that's it!

You won't notice as big of a difference with As Far As We Can See going to a 6 string, so just let 'er rip. -J
