...is starting to take form! Apparently Peter Gabriel's album of covers is due out this spring and will be primarily acoustic. The first hint of anything came at WOMAD where they debuted Paul Simon's "Boy in the Bubble." This made me think of you Pam! Hopefully he'll throw some tour dates in the mix too!

Edit:

Don't know if this will be on the album, but PG recorded a cover of Vampire Weekend's "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa."

I'm seeing quite a few lackluster to negative reviews of the album. Maybe I'm missing something, but I've listened to almost all of it now, and find it quite enjoyable. Very intimate and personal. It's a great record and I look forward to the other artists covering PG.

I'm fond of most of Regina Spektor's stuff. I'm interested to see what PG song she chooses to cover.

I'm not a particularly big fan of Peter Gabriel. I am, however, a fan of Paul Simon. And "The Boy in the Bubble" is one of my all-time favorite songs.

This cover version is amazing. Not what I expected...but really, really great.

They're both geniuses, for sure...

So I've listened to about half the tracks online and I love it! "Listening Wind" is the perfect companion to "San Jacinto." I can't wait to get the hard copy next week!

Release date!!!

2.15.10

Here's the tracklisting for the special two disc set:

Track List
CD 1
Heroes [David Bowie]
The Boy In The Bubble [Paul Simon]
Mirrorball [Elbow]
Flume [Bon Iver]
Listening Wind [Talking Heads]
The Power Of The Heart [Lou Reed]
My Body Is A Cage [Arcade Fire]
The Book Of Love [The Magnetic Fields]
I Think It's Going To Rain Today [Randy Newman]
Apres Moi [Regina Spektor]
Philadelphia [Neil Young]
Street Spirit (Fade Out) [Radiohead]

CD 2
The Book Of Love (Remix)
My Body is A Cage (Oxford London Temple Version)
Waterloo Sunset (Oxford London Temple Version)
Heroes (Wildbeest Mix)

Apparently the songs are mainly orchestral, no drums or guitar! Can't wait to see how they all turned out, but especially "Listening Wind."

I prefer his work on the 5 Simon and Garfunkel albums, but his solo stuff is damn good too. Graceland might be his best work post Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

WOW!!! Same here, I love Paul Simon and Graceland.

That sounds really intersting. Boy in the bubble is one of my all-time favorite songs. Graceland is such a wonderful album...
