Posted - 02/02/2009 : 7:10:02 PM So, with a little bit of prodding (and by "a little" I mean I was all but held at gunpoint) from those around me who've gotten one too many pieces of my special brand of advice over the years, I've agreed to share my special talent for having the answer to everything with the rest of the world via a blog.
Upon my cousin's suggestion (demands), the format is set to be to extract my infinite knowledge of the world via a question and answer format. So, I look to you, fellow TR faithful, to provide the beginnings. I need your questions... on any and every subject known to man. Doesn't matter if it's asking for advice, solutions to (your) problems, sex, women, existentialism, cured meats or anything else you can think of. I feel I can rely upon you to provide intelligent questions that I can then mock and provide inane answers to in a biting, sarcastic, cynical tone.
Just be sure to provide your name and location for reference. I've been threatened with bodily harm if I don't do this so for my sake, ask away. Send questions to whatwouldjeffdo AT hotmail DOT com or post here.
I'll post a link to the blog/answers once I have enough to launch. |

Are you willing to take questions from strangers? I'm willing to ask mine (and Fluffy's) Facebook peeps to come up with questions...
If not, that's okay. Just asking. :) |

Fuck questions. This board is built on tangents . . .
Come on man, I am being serious here. Just questions and no tangents, let's be nice to Silky. |

How do I internally reconcile existentialist and transcendental philosophies? |

Constitutional monarchies, such as the U.S.'s, are inefficient and ineffective. A real democracy is an abstraction at this point.
It still falls to mob rule. And in general, I do not believe people have the capacity to govern themselves. |

Posted - 02/03/2009 : 1:45:51 PM When will people finally realize that democracy is stupid, inefficient, and ineffective, and that we need a philosopher king and that I am the man for the job?
And what are Plato's feelings on the subject of love? |

Posted - 02/03/2009 : 03:34:18 AM how can we determine good actions from bad actions when bad actions often yield good results, or at least a lack of negative repercussions incurred, for the doer? we live in a universe governed by cause and effect and we are all part of a causal chain. how can we judge actions except by their results? a rubric for good and bad that does not reflect the nature of our causal chain (where evil men sometimes face no consequences) seems meaningless.
although harmful actions have victims, is that alone enough to determine good from bad? one person gains, the other suffers. if both parties are equal as beings, how does one's pain override another's pleasure? is the fundamental truth that bad men sometimes get away with their evil and suffer no consequence, is that reconcilable with the concept of a universal justice?
or is there, perhaps, a distinction between good/bad and right/wrong? |
