Posted - 05/01/2008 : 8:03:56 PM So I'm going to see a Leo Kottke show tomorrow night. It'll only be my second time... I have to say I'm pretty pumped about it!
He's a close #2 behind Tim in my book.
I'll give a review after the show. |

Posted - 05/03/2008 : 4:20:57 PM The show was a blast! Leo's like having a great friend that tells cool stories...and then also totally blows you away with his guitar. It makes for a well-rounded show.
I especially like being able to sit and listen. We were in a pretty nice, old theater. The acoustics were pretty crazy...the opening act would mute her guitar while tuning, and it sounded like it she was 10 feet away (we were on the balcony).
I've seen Tim only once where it was a quiet, sit-down show.
So, Leo tore things up. He played a pretty standard Leo set. There was very little slide, a lot of vocals, and probably 80% 12-string. Ants was played, as well as two other songs that were new (or at least I didn't recognize them).
I highly recommend catching him if you haven't yet. He's getting kind of old. As a matter of fact, he stopped at least twice during two different songs because he forgot how to play. He fumbled around on some stories too. I'm not sure if it was just an act...but he was definitely have some brain farts.
He's still the (2nd) best... |

Posted - 05/02/2008 : 4:36:47 PM Just saw him for my 3rd time a few weeks ago. Enjoy! Ants was awesome. Be prepared for a long story. It's worth it, though. :)
HRW may disagree. ;)
Rock on! Leo is THE MAN! |
