With Tim recently covering "I'm on Fire" and with Bruce in the news lately with a new cd coming out with the E Street Band, what is everyone's favorite Springsteen song? I'm not sure I could pick one favorite, but I really like Atlantic City, Streets of Philidelphia, Ghost of Tom Joad, Thunder Road, 10th Ave Freezeout... sooo many good tunes. |

Here's the funny story about Nebraska. Bruce recorded the demos of the songs for the album, and then took them to Little Steven and crew so they could get to work on the album. They heard it and said that it was perfect, and doesn't need anything.
Hence, Nebraska is actually just a demo cd, basically. Kind of kewl, I think. |

Hey RT, gotta agree with you on that one. I think Nebraska is an absolutely beautiful album. Sorry to say I was never much of a Bruce fan growing up. I appreciate his ability as a songwriter but his music never much did it for me. Of course I like to hear the hits occasionally, I wouldn't say I hate Springsteen or anything but his music never connected with me the way it did with most of my friends. Having said that I remember the first TIMe I heard Nebraska and almost fell off my chair(figuratively speaking of course, I wasn't really sitting down at the TIMe hehe). In fact I think those are the only 2 Springsteen things I own, Nebraska and Greatest Hits. LOL I am a huge fan of covers of his music. Manfred Mann's Earth Band's cover of Blinded By The Light one of my all-TIMe fave songs. I also love FGTH's cover of Born to Run. Amazing. LOL Coincidentally, we played recently with an artist named Swati who covers I'm On Fire quite wonderfully. I don't think this was an influence on TR's decision but I did mention to him that she had covered it as well as he really enjoyed her set in Woodstock if you remember. Well that's about all I can type on Springsteen and it looks like I talked about other bands more than him. LOL Just goes to show what a great songwriter he is that I love all his songs by other bands. Kinda silly really. hehe
Ohhh, one more small bit-o-trivia about Bruce, very inconsequential but I thought I would mention it anyway. I was just on TouR with PB&J and the tour bus we used was headed for Springsteen right after our tour finished. Who knows, maybe BROOOOOCE is sleeping in my old bunk. LOL |

I would say everything off of Nebraska. I also LOVE the title song for Devils And Dust.
Hey, speaking of the E Street Band, does anyone else ever listen to Little Steven's Underground Garage? I love to catch it late at night on saturday after my long night of working. |

Nothing gets me going like a good live version of "Rosalita" especially the "Your father says he knows that I don't have any money!" part. That is rock, pure and simple.
I'm also a huge fan of the jazzier and longer version of "E Street Shuffle" on his Live at Hammersmith album. 1975 never sounded so good. Also any live version of "Thunder Road" on piano is gorgeous. It's a tough call really.
On a side note, one of my best friends, Grace, and myself would always get plastered and sing Bruce Springsteen songs. "Thunder Road" was normally the first one we'd sing, eventually progressing to "Meet Me Out in the Street" or "Dancing in the Dark." |
