I just started practicing with a new band last week, and now the dreaded name search starts. Anyone have any ideas for good band names? I'm terrible at this stuff.
We're doing originals along the lines of what is on my MySpace page, as well as the stuff that's on my friend/bandmate's page, Chris Miller (in my top friends). We'll also cover stuff like Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, Van Morrison, David Gray and some stuff like Alice In Chains and STP. |

for your music, something straight forward would suit you better. either something involving the names of your bandmates or something faintly exotic sounding. a great way to get a name for a band is to shift through books you've read.
my suggestion, though, keeping in line with tericee's train of thought, would be the bokononists, or whatever that religion is from cat's cradle. |

We were thinking about "Gruber" in homage to MacGruber from SNL. But we kind of want to be a bit more serious about it and not name it something silly. But I was thinking that our fans could be "Grubies" which sounds like Groupies which is just cool. |

How about the Lame Asses? 
Just kidding...
Band names are impossible to come up with. Just combine the names of the people in the band. Or do something really, really simple. Anything "original" always ends up being pretty sucky.
I just thought of something! (I bet it's going to be sucky...)
How about just a letter. "A". Or maybe "Y". "Y" is a good letter. And probably as good a band name as any.
By the way, if you end up using any of name-ideas that I've given above, I'll need to take some of your money when you guys hit the big time. Seriously. |
