Posted - 12/07/2006 : 12:21:05 PM Ok, what's the deal with "spamming" and message boards? If I posted a link to my ebay store am I "spamming" the board? It's not like I registered just to spam, nor would I have any intention of sending anybody emails (a la our foreign friends).
Somebody set me straight. |

Posted - 12/08/2006 : 3:07:21 PM we know you. thats what it really comes down to. we know youre not here just to get us to buy shit from you, unlike other people who spam the board. On top of that, youre not going to post in all the subsections about your site.
Its cool man. Just post your website. Other boards have rules, and some of them are ridiculous (I posted questions on a board once, and was told my sig, a link to my PRIVATE home page selling NOTHING, was spam), mostly because i think people just dont know what spam is. |

Posted - 12/08/2006 : 11:00:39 AM I actually had a post deleted from another MB (that I am also a member of and contribute to) for allegedly "spamming" the board with my ebay link...the mod didn't really provide me with a satisfactory explaination ("not a personal billboard" even thou I posted in the off-topic section) WTF?
That's really it. I just wanted to gauge people's feelings about that here...thnx for the input

Posted - 12/07/2006 : 6:23:08 PM Space Monkey, did I miss something? I agree with Arthen, I am not sure I know what you are referring too, was there a problem? |

Posted - 12/07/2006 : 5:57:44 PM If you have a certain product that you think someone might be interested in owning, post a link to it. You are an established community member, I don't think it is bad form to post something to a personal link every now and then. For example, Dave Cahill promotes his music, because he thinks its something we would enjoy. I would not consider that spam in any regard. |
