Posted - 11/10/2006 : 01:05:51 AM I can tell you that the Line 6 Echo Park Delay is built solid. I NEVER have had any problem at all with mine. It's so heavy too for being just a stomp box (so much metal in there, wow). I do prefer it over the Boss DD's. Although I prefer my Echo Park, the bosses are still good. It also seems like I can take this thing, throw it against a brick wall, and it would still work fine.
But, if you really want a delay that will keep you up for weeks (trying to say something intense, and I don't know if that made sense) is the Digitech Jam Man. |

Posted - 11/09/2006 : 2:15:13 PM Cool Video. I remember when I first got the DL4 I spent way too much time playing with it. I really don't have experience with all the pedals, but I've never had problems with my DL4 and it's always done what I wanted. |

Posted - 11/09/2006 : 12:44:43 PM I paid $189 + tax for my DD-20. I think it retails for something insane like $270.
I've never owned a DL4, but many of the store clerks told me that they don't hold up to use. I got a couple of reasons for this...but the main one seemed to be that they are being made in a new location (somewhere in Asia I think they said) and the quality has suffered. Also, they said a lot of people bring them back because the foot switches are built into the body of the pedal which can cause breakage, problems, etc. But I'm sure that if your careful with it that it'll be fine.
I personally found the DD-20 easier to use when I was in the store. |

Posted - 11/09/2006 : 11:49:23 AM can we do a price comparison really quick?
i bought the DL4 for $200. how much is a DD-20
as for the DL4 being a piece of S, i like it and i dont see how it is prone to breaking..that thing is a tank.
and i got it to bleed off by hitting the record button 1 time after recording. hitting it twice causes it to just loop what you played over and over. if you hit it once it bleeds off and only keeps a continous 14 seconds. so by adding things, those added sounds replace old ones. but even if you didnt play something it would still bleed off...cause there is always noise..always. |

Posted - 11/09/2006 : 11:06:20 AM I've kept my mouth shut on these delay pedal discussions...but since HRW brought up the Boss DD-20 (AKA Giga Delay) I have to add my opinion. The DD-20 is the best delay/looper out there...you get up to 23 seconds of looping. The thing is built really well and sounds great. Everywhere I went the sales people told me not to buy the DL4 for various reasons. |

Posted - 11/09/2006 : 10:40:51 AM The DL-4 is a piece of S. Had one for a while, never really cared for it...delay is short, buttons SUCK, and the thing is prone to breaking, it's only redeeming quality is its modeled delays, but they can't be used with the loop sampler.
Don't know what the loop sampler clocks in at on the Echo Park, but for the money, the Boss GigaDelay is definitely superior to the DL-4 anyday.
Very nice, Travis. What'd you have that set on to bleed off gradually like that? |

Posted - 11/09/2006 : 01:18:18 AM Nice, I could actualy stand to listen to a Gwen Stefani song (well, she wasn't singing, so that was a plus). Nothing against you, but I hate everything No Doubt and Stefani did from their thrid album on. I just consider her a big sellout, and just can't stand and of the music she does today.
The Peter Gabriel one, nothing but good. I should try out one of those DL4. See how it stands up to the Echo Park, if it really is any better. |
