Posted - 09/27/2006 : 8:49:04 PM Hey not sure if anyone is familiar with Joe Lawlor, I've mentioned his amazing talents before, but he's an unreal guitar player and an all around great guy I have been lucky to know for a while. He used to play guitar for the band Egypt, and i think Egypt even played with TR3 before (I think that is what Tim said one time). He has been the sound engineer for DMB for a while and actually got to play on stage with the band for two shows in C-Ville over the weekend! Joe is currently playing guitar for Andy Waldeck, in his band The C-Villians which I will be opening for on November 25th in C-Ville. Crazy small world! Anyway hopefully someone got the audio I'm sure he tears it up.

Posted - 09/11/2007 : 3:08:36 PM OK, there was this thread, and then the more recent one when he played on #41 and I'm impressed with his playing. I understand from this thread that he has played in some bands, but do these bands have any cds available? Any reccomendations? I can't seem to figure out the whole Egypt thing because there seems to be a few different bands named Egypt. |

Posted - 10/01/2006 : 4:25:41 PM Dave, I am making a reservation for Sat night (Nov 25th) at a local hotel. I really feel the need to get away, and as hectic as it would be to go down Sat and turn around and come home Sunday, it would be worth it. My son said he would like to join me for the road trip. I would really like to hear your band and Andy's too! So cross your fingers and I might see you in C'ville! |

Posted - 09/28/2006 : 07:09:22 AM Yea I am pretty sure anything you hear goes through him. X-Porn Stars were great when I saw them open up for Robert Randolph in NYC. That was a hell of a night. |

Posted - 09/28/2006 : 06:41:03 AM Wanna talk about crazy small worlds, I also know Joe Lawler, I met him when I was touring with Chris Whitley. He showed up at CW's show at Starr Hill to say Hi to Chris and ended up sitting in with him. they did a scorching cover of "Little Wing" as an encore that nite. I found out that he did one tour of duty as CW's tour manager before I started working for Chris. Then come to find out he knows TR from the DMB camp and then later to discover this guy was in Egypt. One of the first bands I worked for in DC doing sound was a band called The Now. We played a show at the Bayou and guess who played on the bill with us. That's right, Egypt. Keep in mind, that was like 12 years ago. Crazy small world! Joe also has a wicked funk band called The X-Porn Stars. To be more precise, if I am not mistaken, Joe is actually the guy who records all the DMB shows for Dave and the band. |
