You know it's funny. I saw an ad for this teen drug site on AIM and stopped in to check it out. I took the quiz on there and passed with flying colors! It's pretty weird guessing and getting it right. I smoke weed on and off. Sometimes I go months without it, then have a sudden urge, or whatever. I do think that there was some good information on the site (http://www.freevibe.com/Drug_Facts/marijuana.asp?id=crazyleaf), but it's just the same as anything else...Too much of ANYTHING is bad for you! If you drink too much water you can literally drown! That's obviously not the case here, but I'm only bringing this up because of the posting about becoming violent. This is pretty outrageous due to the fact that if you are a violent person, you are violent no matter what, and it's stupid to blame that on smoking weed. If anything weed makes people calmer than they normally are! (It's a downer...) Sometimes doctors will even prescribe it for help with sleeping. My only point is, there are people out there who have problems with certain things. Often substance is used to soothe as you may know, and to classify weed into the same categories as say narcotics or any "processed" drugs is wrong. Weed is natural and would be here if we weren't. It grows out of this earth and therefore should not be able to be controlled by an upper force. We all know where the real problems lie in society, and when push comes to shove we point fingers. Myself included. We need to worry about much worse in the most case, I mean sure, if there's a kid in your middle-school smoking everyday, comes in wreaking of weed and fails his class then YES something should be done. I think we all know that alcohol is much more dangerous than weed either in impromptu situations or in the long run, but hey, it's legal! We have taught our society to "cope" with this phenomenon since, oh, Prohibition? Yes, I think that's when we learned that you cannot put a stop to this no matter how hard you try. |

so you object to beavers making dams, then. water is natural and comes from the earth (not in the same way a plant does) and beavers exert control on rivers. is that unnatural? you have to remember that humans come from the earth, too. we're as natural as anything else, so why can some things we do be natural? it's my belief that anything humans do is totally natural. plastic, toxic waste, cars. whatever. it's all natural. it's destructive, yes, but "good" and "natural" are to different things. i never understood the whole "well it comes from the earth, so it has to be good" thinking. really. consume some poison ivy in one way or another. that comes from the earth, too.
i don't disagree with what you're saying. i think we should pretty much lay off pot smokers. because honestly? is it that big a deal. no. just let them smoke. they're not doing anything wrong.
the thing you have to undestand about prohibition is that it was in the short term very successful. if you want, find some statistics on it. the amount of drinking in the nation, overall, went down. and america wanted it. it was an amendment in the constitution. 3/4 of the states have to vote that in. |
