Posted - 03/17/2006 : 02:37:43 AM Damn cough cough cough cough sneeze suck it all up again blow it all out guzzle the Nyquil dream of giant Jimmy Carters ruling the world... And you only cough at night, Jay? Yeah, only at night. But the nose is congested all day? All day and night. It's awful. Go get some Robotussin. I did. Did it work? No. Just let it run it's course.
That was my conversation with ol' Doc Leone. Thanks, Doc, you really helped me out. I even went to CHURCH to pray for releif. Nothing. I confessed my sins to the holy father, everything from stealing chocolate milk to give to Annie to my inner lust for the girl on the shampoo commericials (the one in the waterfall.) to eating my brother Mitch's stromboli last Tuesday night and telling him I didn't (tactfully blaming it on Dad.) Still, I cough at night. All right, I didn't go to church, but I did say sorry for the strombolies. Bottom line-I'm sick, some kind of cold. Is it just me, or is the common cold the biggest drag on the spirit or what? It's hard to sleep even with the treacherous double dose of Nyquil (that's just the FUN part of the common cold..."Mom, we're out of Nyquil...again...") and it's a terrible thing in school because everyone around you's got the same damn thing going down. It's useless to fight back at this point. Seeing as how tomorrow is St. Patrick's day, and I'm a senior, I'm skipping as per tradition. But now here's the choice. Go to the parade in Cleveland and get drunk with a bunch of people I've never seen and this gorgeous girl, go get drunk in an abadoned lot with my band, or stay home and tend this cold...which is what I really want to do. I don't like alcohol one bit. Unless I'm by myself (or either with somebody.) It makes me sicker thinking of my friends getting wasted for no particular reason, none of them are even Irish. But oh well, I can be a loser and take care of this disease. Maybe I'll call that girl up and have her make me soup.
Raise your hand if you've got a cold. Raise your hand if you'd like some Nyquil, I got the stash to beat all stashes. Cleared out Giant eagle. |

Posted - 03/19/2006 : 8:05:05 PM Glad to hear that you are feeling better! I love the idea of trying to rationalize with things incapable of being rational. Personally I like to yell at the Ants that enjoy living in my kitchen. I try to explain to them that I will kill them if they don't leave, but they just don't seem to listen. |

Posted - 03/19/2006 : 6:54:15 PM Feelin a bit better...I've been trying to sleep more, it helps, as well as the vitamin C thing...Drank some green tea today and realized why I don't drink green tea more often. I think the greatest way to overcome a cold is to sit down with the cold, and say, "look, I'm just gonna ignore you, cold. I just gonna pretend like you ain't even there." outsmart that virus. |

Posted - 03/19/2006 : 11:30:09 AM Jay i just had the flu and it definately sucked big time. All i can say is drink lots of fluids like water and green tea, try to find some vitamin c tablets as well, i'd say to drink orange juice or some other kind of juice, but it lowers the ph in your body making it more acidic which is what bacteria and viruses love. Steaming your sinuses or eating something spicy also helps with the sinus congestion. Anyway hope you feel better soon. |

Posted - 03/19/2006 : 02:28:22 AM Sorry to hear that Jay, I know everyone in the world is probably offering their crazy remedy, so here is my pitch: natural sleep. "They" say (and I've yet to figure out who they are) that natural sleep is better than any kind of induced sleep. So I say to masturbate, and go to sleep until some time next week.
are you still off the weed? If so I've got to come up with a new catch phrase for you.
Maybe... Jay, LAY OFF THE FLU!!!!!!!! |

Posted - 03/18/2006 : 08:41:30 AM Jay, so good to hear from you again! So sorry it is for that reason.
As a mom.....CHICKEN SOUP!!!!! That and Vicks Vapor Rub, works every time! There have really been some bad strains of viruses this year. So many at work have had a cold like you describe with a cough that they just can't shake. Also some really nasty intestinal viruses. So far I have managed to stay healthy, and considering that I have a low white cell count, that is pretty amazing to me. I guess the white cells I have are "mighty" LOL.
Hope you feel better real soon and also hope you chose to stay home and take care of your cold. |

Steam with Eucalyptus, is fantastic. Don't know how you'd pull it off, but try it. |
