Posted - 08/30/2005 : 11:42:17 AM conversation yesterday in my speech lab, where my faculty mentor was explaining experiemtnal name-recognition studies in a phonetics lab:
"sometimes we have to use fake contextual names so that the experimental participants don't realize which name is the test target. If we have to use a nickname for, say, a pet, it becomes pretty hard to hide it in the context of peoples' real names. I mean, you don't ever just run accross a person named... Fluffy."
I promptly whipped out my cell phone and invited her foot to her mouth:) |

Posted - 09/03/2005 : 11:35:21 PM This is going to be a really ignorant question but... Fluffy's real name is Fluffy? |

Posted - 08/30/2005 : 3:27:01 PM HAHAHAHAHAHA that is so funny! Really funny because I would have thought the same thing before I met Fluffy. Even funnier is that once you know Fluffy there isn't any other name that would seem to fit, I mean, I can't imagine Fluffy being a Mike or Jim or Joe. He's just Fluffy! |
