Our own Matt Winn has a show coming up with Justin King in the Philly area on Wed. April 26th at The Grape Street Pub. I have caught Matt here before and it is a great venue for him. Don't miss it if you can help it!!

It's a doolin' guitar. The guy who makes them is a portland guy who plays in one of my teachers band. He makes some great guitars.

Here's Justin's guitar http://www.doolinguitars.com/double.html

Pretty darn impressive! I know I've heard the name before, probably here on the board somewhere. What the heck was he playing in that 2nd song? That looked like a double chapman stick or something.

I have this video you speak of. It is definatly a Larrivee vieo!

I have yet to see it up on a site, and my site is currently down.

I you would like to see the Video with the Dbl Neck, it is at:

http://www.doolinguitars.com/king.html
(you can watch him play it too, which I highly suggest!)

On a Semi Related topic......Tim.....
well, to say the least is awesome!
But some of you are forgetting, music is "alive."
It evolves, changes, grows, breathes, and parts of it do tend to die.

Let us not forget amazing artists such as:

Michael Hedges (I pretty sure with out him we would not have a lot of the music I'm sure we all enjoy.)
Justin King
Preston Reed
Keller Williams

Adam, I have been working my beloved balls off. I am sure within a couple weeks or so, I'll be on more often. I can teach you how to play Che...yeah.
Zachmozach Posted - 06/13/2005 : 12:21:23 PM
I've actually listened to his two earlier albums that were up on the old site and I might even have an MP3 or two of him around. He actually can use the techniques in a very musical way. I wouldn't say he's all technique just yet. I still hope his career doesn't go down the road it looks like it's going, but ya I think the guy can actually play. If you ever see him play the double necked doolin he has it seems pretty ridiculous, but he makes pretty good music on it. I'll wait to see him live and talk to him before I really try form a strong opinion of him though and even then you never really know.

hey jared, judt wondering, how come your never on AIM anymore? i kinda miss our talks about tim ahaha..and how u would help me get each song down
Hopeful Rolling Waves Posted - 06/13/2005 : 07:36:48 AM
I don't particularly care for this guy, especially after I saw that shit song he does called "Change" or something...it's retarded. A lame pop song with a tap solo...great. He's all technique. I know people say the same about Tim, but we all know that that is bullshit. I just haven't heard anything from him that grabs me.
JemezFoodPeople Posted - 06/12/2005 : 10:18:48 PM
i think the guy is really creative and fast as lightning, but i don't really like to listen to the stuff as much as I do to watch it. My friend ran sound for him in philadelphia a few weeks ago and said he sounded great though. I'd like to see what he can do when he doesnt seem too busy showing off his flashy techniques.
Zachmozach Posted - 06/12/2005 : 12:44:30 PM
I was going to attend one of his guitar clinics since he's only like an hour and a half away from me, but the prices are so damn expensive. I mean he charges over a grand for the weekend. He is pretty good at all that tapping stuff and at a lot of different techniques, but if that video is any indication of where his career is going it's a sad thing.

http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/video/guitar.php
That is the first thing I saw him do. I think I also have a quicktime video lying around of him playing a double necked doolin' guitar. Doolin guitars are pretty cool and made by another local who plays in one of my teachers funk band.

I downloaded that solo video u were talking about. He is pretty good, but i wouldnt compare him to tim. His playing reminds me a lot of kaki king, with all the tapping and stuff. I've yet to see someone who can live up to tim in skill, and i dont think anyone will ever live up to his awesomeness. Check out michael kelsey, I think his shit is pretty damn good, but still not compareable to tim.
enthuTIMsiast Posted - 06/11/2005 : 11:47:02 PM
Right, I didn't figure it was the vid you were talking about, since you said it was a Larrivee ad, and the vid I posted was not. But it was a vid nonetheless, which is a start for someone who knows nothing of this person.
Batstone Posted - 06/11/2005 : 10:46:42 PM
yeah.. thats not the video im talking aobut... it sa vid of him solo.. not with the band. he released a solo album called Le Blue all solo acoustic insturmentals
