Posted - 04/18/2005 : 01:19:24 AM Yeah, So Friday I watched the movie "The Woodsman" and the bar for dramas has officially risen. If you didn't hear about the movie, it's because it was hardly in the theatres and got zero press because of it's touchy subject matter. That matter- pedophilia. When I first heard that they were doing a movie that dealt with a man (Kevin Bacon) who just released back into society, struggling not to revert back to his former ways, I thought, wow... this has potential, and let me tell you... it delivered. Kevin Bacon should have received an Oscar for his performance. Again, the reason this film wasn’t recognized was because “we can’t go there”. What a crock of shit. There was one scene that literally sent chills up my spine. Not many movies move me, but this picture absolutely blew me away. If the subject matter doesn't disturb you too much, do yourself a favor and check it out, fresh on DVD this week.

Posted - 04/19/2005 : 09:35:56 AM I would say that Garden State is better than Sideways. I actually went looking for Swingers but they didn't even have that movie in stock!!! Unbelievable! I love those kind of movies. "Made" is another gem. |

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 10:28:22 PM I typically like slow movies with not much happening. Lost In Translation I thought was great. Haven't seen Garden State, but I'll look for it if you say it's like that. But Sideways... just I don't know... something. Seemed like a mainstream movie tryting to be too Indie or something. I can't hit it exactly.. |

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 8:50:12 PM I liked sideways. But I entered the movie knowing that not a lot was going to "happen", ala About Schmitt, Garden State, and Lost In Translation. It was a movie in a similar vein as those, even though it wasnt as good |

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 6:37:41 PM Whoa, I must be in the minority on Sideways. I went in thinking that I'd hate it, so maybe that has something to do with why I liked it. |

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 5:50:29 PM I was at the movie store this weekend and had that movie in my hand but I didn't rent it. I wound up renting Sideways instead and that movie blew. I'm going to have to check out The Woodsman. Kevin Bacon isn't one of my favorites but Stir of Echoes was awesome. |

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 01:51:01 AM Kevin Bacon is such a talented actor. I had heard about this film, and it's been on my list to rent. Maybe I'll finally have to get around to getting it now. |
