If there are any artists, particularly guitarists, with a similar ambient jazz feel to them, I'm very interested. I'm looking to expand my taste in this genre.

Greg's got some live stuff up on his site. There are also some videos of him playing floating around, and he even has a few linked on his site as well...

Just check out:

Anywhere online where I can find music from Greg Howard or Michael Sokolowski? Live shows? Free recordings?

Also, any artists similar to these guys to be found on archive.org or anywhere like that?

Well, tough question. Really, no... there isn't ANYONE like Tim. But with that said, there are some albums that I can recommend that are comparable in one way or another.

Greg Howard is probably the closest thing there is to TR, and it should be no surprise that they are good friends, and have played together their whole lives. "Water on the Moon" is a live, 1 hour improv set, played straight through with no breaks. I think that this set is much like Tim's "Gossip of the Neurons" disc. Greg also uses many pedals to create soundscapes, loops, and distortion on this disc.

Pat Metheny's "One Quiet Night" immediately reminded me of Stream the first time I heard it. Pat has been a huge name in Fusion Jazz guitar since the 70's. I think I remember reading in the liner notes that this all acoustic, all instrumental baritone guitar set was recorded in one night after being inspired by a rainy evening.

Obviously TR has listed Hendrix as an influence in many interviews, and listening to this disc, you will hear where Tim gets a lot of his inspiration for his electric playing. Some of the songs on here were even covered by Tim during the TR3, and Puke Matrix tours.
