So I just got this one, and the inside cover says something like "tracks 1, 4, 5, and 9 were improvised." Does that mean that the whole song was just made up on the spot, or were they written before, and had a lot of improv in them?

I should probably know that, you're right. I'm amazed by all of them(especially Big Blast Of Hot Air), and if it was simply made up on the spot, I would feel really small. As if my favorite thing (possibly) that Tim does is just something that he can make up in a single instant in time, no pre-though, just leting it flow. I would be in awe, simply put.

Thanks

Peace

OK, for the youngsters in the audience, there used to be a show called Max Headroom. It was a science fiction series and it was set in the post-apocalyptic future. Blipverts were the way the govt controlled the people. They were interspersed on "TV". Kinda like he did in FIGHT CLUB. Only it wasn't fun stuff like porno. If you can find these on video or something they are well worth checking out. I think it was a british series. I really dug them. Max Headroom was a computer generated TV host. He had a series hosting videos for a while. He was all the rage. I think it might have been on MTV, but don't quote me on that. It could have been on USA's NIGHT FLIGHT show. I used to watch that alot too.

That's cool that he just makes a song up with the same beat. I guess it is almost like a new song every nite, huh? But still the same and recognizable with the congas? Anywho, I can't imagine Big Blast just being thought of on the spot. I'm just awed.

Its kinda like Congas on this tour. Always the same drum track but where he takes it from there is complete improv. That to me is the purest expression of Tim's talent. I am not saying writing a song is EZ but creating one on the spot is AMAZING. Incomprehensible to me. That is why, Tim is an Alien!

A mixture of both, some were improv on the spot and others had basic root and then were improv around that basic riff. I don't know which are which. In any case, I agree that they are amazing. The first time I listened to that CD and discovered that I was blown away and I knew i was working for the right guy. That CD especially moves me.
