So I picked up this CD not too long ago and, wow, this guy's insane. Half his songs make me feel like I'm going to have a heart attack (Girl/Boy Song in particular). Good stuff.

I plan on getting Selected Ambient Works, Vol. 2 sometime soon (which has a completely different feel from the Richard D. James Album, but I like it).

I went to the three places that might have Selected Ambient Works, Vol. 2 and none of them did. All they had on Aphex Twin were usually just 2 CDs. It really sucks because I ordered it online and I have to wait a couple of weeks until I get it. :(

The best music is always so hard to find. Good thing we have the internet.

I bet Tim was a big fan of the "Come to Daddy" video. What a mind fuck.

If you all remember, TR is a huge Aphex Twins fan. 3 or 4 years ago he would play them on TouR all the TIMe. Not as much these days, but still occasionally.

Erich, thanks. I didn't know that, but it makes perfect sense to me, especially since there is very little Hip Hop that I like, and/or own... but the stuff I do, falls under the category of Intelligent Hip Hop. Some of the groups that I like, and own cds of that fall under this category would be:

Del the Funky Homosapien AKA: Deltron 3030

Kool Keith, AKA: Dr. Octagon

The Roots

Public Enemy

MF Doom

Madvillian

ect... basically, MC's and groups that have something to say, and that offer an alternative to gangsta rap

Kev - Aphex Twin is classified, i believe, under the "IDM" genre. that stands for Intelligent Dance Music. a bit silly, if you ask me, but its there.

HAHA, you sold me. I picked up this Richard D. James album yesterday on this reccomendation alone along with Hendrix's Band of Gypsies reissue. I must admit that Mr. Aphex Twin does some fucked up shit on that cd... I don't really even know how to classify that cd. I guess something like industrial elecronica? Whatever it is, it kicks some serious ass, and pumped me up in a big way while listening, I couldn't help but to nod my head and stomp my foot most of the way through.

I like the sounds of this 'Selected Ambient Works, Vol. 2' you both speak of... perhaps i will have to look deeper into this

Selected Ambient Works vol. 2 is one of my favourite albums of all time, seriously. Especialy Disc 2. Its the most mellow "trip" you'll ever experience.

Sloth recomended the disc on this forum, and its been a night time busride/trainride/sleep staple since.
