Posted - 12/18/2004 : 7:11:40 PM I turned this dream to a short story, so if you think it makes no sense, well, it didnt to me either. Tell me what you think.
quote: The Wolf
It was mid-day when we came upon the Wolf. I had seen him before, though probably in a faery tale of some sorts; the bane of Chicken Little. Soon he would walk towards us, eyes fixed, leaving his post by the small bridge bare.
I had never seen a wolf walk previous to this moment, like us, but on two hind legs he rose, eye-level with the man on my right. Pinning his shoulders to the tree was easy; our current state was condusive for giving the Wolf his way. I had never heard a wolf talk previous to this moment, like us, but with a smile dripping sarcasm, he spoke clear and caluculated: "Tell me the four-letter word, and I'll go docile".
How simple, how obvious! But, it couldn't be. I've heard this story before, and it didn't end like this. Half expected, as if my mind echoed from a different mouth, I heard "Wolf". You fool, of course that can't be it.
"Wrong"
Maybe it was the sharp flicker in his eyes, but I ran across the small bridge to the porch of the cabin across the way. I've heard this story before, and I know how it ends. It's carved somewhere. The two other's are fine, the Wolf is only pacing them around the tree. I'm sure it's here somewhere.
Here! At the thick roots of a tree whose trunk is married to the wall of the cabin, thats where the word is.
"HERO!", I could hear myself yelling. "HERO, the word is HERO god dammit!!!"
And as promised, the Wolf went docile. His eyes, however, remained just as sharp, his sneer just as drenched with sarcasm as before. A glance over his shoulder told me he was impressed, yet I'm sure the sentiments were barbed.
And so it was.

this reminds me of a eerie dream i had when i was VERY VERY little but never forgot.
its a long dream but the end was the odd part:
I walked down an escalator to find a man with an elephant mask on standing at the end of the escalator. I laughed at him and told him to remove his maskm so he did. Under was another mask of something else, so i told him to remove that one too. Sure enough under that was another. He kept removing mask after mask untilfinally he came to his last one.
He removed his mask to reveal his face.
This is when i woke up in a sweat scared out of my mind. I don't remember what I saw but I've always remembered it being scary enough to wake me out of a dream. |

I applaud thee. |
