Posted - 11/27/2004 : 12:45:23 PM My mom is buying me an MP3 player for Christmas, but I'm not sure what the best model to tell her to get is. I'm thinking an IPOD, but I wanted to post this here to see if anyone else out there has any suggestions. I'm looking for one between $250-$300 (IPOD price) with a 20GB memory. Dell makes a 20GB MP3 player that I was thinking about as well. I know a lot of people have IPODs and are happy with them.
Any suggestions or experiences with any brands would be very helpful.

Posted - 11/29/2004 : 7:28:24 PM iRiver H120 or H140 will do for you. It's got most all of the features of the zen touch, with a snazzy LCD remote control, and some real nice recording features. I use a line in and a 1/4" cable converter and record my guitar right from my amp, and it sounds very good. Not pro-grade recording by any means, but a very cheap way to plug in and record jam sessions or demos or whatever. I also like its GUI, real sleek looking. I don't know why this player didn't get more popularity than it did. I'd say its the perfect mp3 player with the exception that you can't make playlists on-the-fly(away from your computer), and there's no gapless playback, which is kind of annoying for music nazi's(don't worry im not a real nazi) like me who hate gaps in their live shows between songs. |

Posted - 11/27/2004 : 7:13:09 PM I have a small MP3 player from Rio that's good for running/sports. It only has 256Mb or so built in, but it takes SD cards of any size.
I have been meaning to get an iPod, but my Mac doesn't have a firewire port, which is apparently required.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. |
